Botanica is seeking an experienced pastry cook to join our team! Botanica is an ambitious, critically lauded, modern Californian restaurant in Silver Lake with an extensive natural wine program, a provisions market and a seasonal, farmer's market-driven menu.

Pastry Cook responsibilities include; Teaming up with our kitchen management and pastry prep team to develop and test new pastry items. Producing pastries for the display cake, desserts for the AM and PM menu, overseeing our bread program. Organizing the pastry prep structure. Bringing enthusiasm and creative energy to all tasks while working quickly and efficiently. Work with our chefs to ensure ordering pars are met. Attending weekly meetings with the chefs to go over new ideas, what's in season, consistency, and areas for improvement. The role includes light administrative tasks (typing recipes, dry goods inventory, ordering) and requires a high level of productivity and output, attention to detail, organization and cleanliness, and a drive for excellence.

Primary Responsibilities: 
Take initiative, working as a team leader to foster a respectful and nurturing workplace environment. Work with the Executive Chef to create inventive and seasonally driven desserts featuring local produce.  Think critically and creatively in regards to work flow and efficiency.  Oversee prep and pastry departments, making sure quality is consistent and delicious.  Demonstrate excellent work ethic, cleanliness, and a positive attitude. Exhibit stellar organizational habits pertaining to all areas of the kitchen and storage. Assist in receiving, storage, sanitation and consistent execution of food at the highest possible level of quality. Do everything within your ability to help Botanica thrive, excel and grow!  Physical Requirements:
This is a role that requires physical stamina – carrying up to 50 pounds of items, unloading and organizing heavy bags of dry goods and produce, going up and down stairs, and maintaining an energized presence in the kitchen during multiple hours of service.  Botanica is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
