Description of HBC
Heritage Baptist Church is a loving body of Christ located in Gravette, Arkansas. Our Sunday morning
attendance averages 120, we have Sunday School classes for all ages, Sunday evening Men's and
Women's Bible Studies, Monday night Thrive (Special-Needs Adult Ministry), Wednesday night Adventure
Club for our children, Wednesday night Youth for Jr./Sr. high school, and various periodic ministries
throughout the year. We are an SBC church, affirming the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message, and we stand
firmly and graciously on Scripture as the inerrant Word of God. HBC is an Elder led church, currently with
three Elders. The church employs a part-time Secretary and Custodian.

Overview:
HBC's mission is knowing Christ and making Him known and we are searching for a passionate leader,
with gifts in preaching and teaching, who will promote the vision and mission of HBC to the congregation
and community. He will ensure that the ministries of the church are being implemented consistent with
the goals and objectives of the church.
Qualifying Requirements for Pastors of HBC:
He is to be a man of God, a servant leader, and abiding by the scriptures found in 1 Timothy 3:1-
7 and Titus 1:6-9.
Summary of The Pastor of HBC:
The Pastor will boldly preach the Word of God, leading and coordinating Sunday morning Worship
Service. He will oversee the discipling of Heritage Baptist Church members in their knowing and
worshipping God as He has revealed Himself in His Word. He will develop and oversee ministries of the
church to ensure that the body of Christ grows in its understanding of and involvement in making
disciples. Most of these ministries currently have leaders who faithfully serve in these areas. The Pastor
will equip, develop, direct, and support them in carrying out their ministry. He will manage the work of
our secretary and the organization of our office operations. The Pastor is the spiritual leader of the
church and serves alongside the Elders in shepherding the body.
Descriptions of Ministry Responsibilities
Lead:
• Minister along with the elders to provide spiritual leadership and service to the congregation.
• Lead elements of corporate worship, including the celebration of Baptism and the Lord's Supper.
• Discern a vision of church growth and development, develop consensus with the elders, and lead
the implementation of the vision.
• Perform and/or delegate administrative duties related to office, staff, and property that are
necessary in the ongoing life and ministry of the church.
• Work with the various Boards, Committees, Ministry Teams, etc. of the church to help them
perform their assigned tasks.
Feed:
• Provide spiritual leadership through faithful preaching from Scripture, promoting growth in
personal spiritual disciplines, personal evangelism, and focus on the Great Commission.
• Provide vision leadership and training for our people in the areas of discipleship, evangelism, age
group leadership, and other ministry areas related to the vision of the church.
Protect:
• Prayerfully discern and preview all teaching and counseling materials to ensure alignment to HBC
Statement of Faith.
• Carefully interview and assess all potential new church members.
• Address all secondary issues that threaten to become primary issues.
• Be aware of and sensitive to the life situations of the congregation members and provide private
instruction and warnings from the Scriptures when necessary.
Care for:
• Model and oversee pastoral care to the sick, bereaved, and those with other needs.
• Minister to families through major life events such as births, weddings, funerals, and other
milestones.
