***Available for Some Remote Work*** The PAS Specialist schedules and coordinates ancillary appointments for patients seen in the Pediatric Neurology clinics. This position requires high volume-phone work and high-volume work queue and in-basket processing, along with maintenance, upkeep, and scheduling off the active request and recall work queues in Epic. This position will be responsible for making outgoing calls and receiving incoming calls to schedule new and return patients. This position is also responsible for maintaining a high-volume fax machine for the Pediatric Specialties Department. Prompt and professional communication with provider and RN teams is essential to ensure a positive experience for patients. Excellent customer service skills are essential to succeed in this position.
Provides high quality customer service to both external customers (patients and families, referring providers and insurance carriers) and internal customers (OHSU and DCH providers, staff and employees) that meets or exceeds the service standards of the health care industry and OHSU/DCH. This duty includes prompt and professional communication efforts, exemplary phone etiquette, flexible coverage of internal service needs and a continuous,
seamless, follow through.
Gathers and verifies patient information including demographics, insurance coverage, Primary Care Provider (PCP), guarantor demographics and status, and financial status.
Schedules in person return patient appointments in EPIC Cadence accurately, thoroughly and with strong customer service skills Calling out on patients to schedule folllow-up appointments Answering Pediatric Neurology phone calls and scheduling appointments or triaging calls to the appropriate group or person.
Maintain Specialty department fax machines and provide support with referral work queues, scheduling reports, and sending out applicable letters to patients and facilities.
Working Epic in-basket messages One year of experience in a medical office setting, including high-volume direct patient contact, scheduling of appointments and may require experience obtaining managed care authorizations (dependent on position description). OR One and a half years of work experience in a high volume direct public contact position and 6 months experience in a medical office setting. The candidate must have a thorough knowledge of PAS policies and procedures.  Candidates will have demonstrated advanced PAS user skills as well as extensive knowledge of integrated care at OHSU. Knowledge and Skills Required: Basic computer skills including word processing. Windows applications, on-line scheduling, and a preference for data-base skills. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Strong customer service orientation. Demonstrated effectiveness in confrontational customer interactions. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation High School Diploma Experience scheduling procedures in Cadence and Op-Time. Experience working large volume referral work queues with strict processing metrics. Skills communicating and working with large specialized provider teams. Work Schedule is Monday-Friday, hours TBD, primarily telework; potential for work from campus
