Bao Mama in Oshawa, ON is looking for Part-Time General Ops (Oshawa) to join our 23 person strong team. We are located on 70 King St. E. Our ideal candidate is self-driven, punctual, and hard-working. Responsibilities Primary role is to prep, produce and steam bao buns according to recipe and par level
? Perform portion control and minimize waste to keep cost within forecasted range
? Comply and maintain a sanitary, health, and personal hygiene standards at all times
? Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces, or
serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices
? Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of
ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters
? Prepare mise en place, and cook food according to recipes and previous experience
? Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old
and new items, and rotating stock.
? Cooks food items by grilling, frying, sautéing, and other cooking methods to specified
recipes and standards
? Setting up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
? Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience
? Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
? Awareness and handle food allergen according to the guidelines
? Assist the head chef by chopping vegetables and washing food items
? Ensure kitchen equipment and appliances are ready for use
? Prepare salads, breads, salad dressings, sauces, soups and meat
? Gather food ingredients from the refrigerator or freezer as required by the chef
? Ensure food is stored away properly when not in use
? Study the menu and prepare ingredients ahead of schedule
? Performs inventory checks and completes food storage logs
? Learn about the cooking methods and techniques employed in the kitchen
? Perform additional tasks as assigned by the head and assistant chef
? Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customer
Cashier and Customer Service
? Follows all company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook
? Comply and maintain a sanitary, health, and personal hygiene standards at all times
Meets all uniform, appearance, and grooming standards as specified in thE Employee

? Maintains our guest service philosophy by following guest service standards
? Knows of all menu items offered at the restaurant
? Welcome customers and help determine their orders
? Place food orders in the appropriate bags and boxes
? Keeping the register area neat and stocked with essential supplies
? Awareness and handle food allergy according to the guidelines
? Ensure all orders are delivered to the customers in a timely manner
? Accept cash and return the correct change.
? Respond to customer inquiries, issue receipts, and record customer suggestions
? Maintains a good team environment by assisting other team members with their station
duties
? Performs additional tasks as assigned by the head and assistant chef
? Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
? Assisting with shelf-stocking, clean up, and displays
? Counting money in cash drawers at the beginning of a shift, cross shift and end of a shift
Qualifications Experience working in a fast-paced environment
? Strong multitasking and organizational skills
? Good understanding of ingredients, recipes, kitchen safety and hygiene
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills
? Familiar with general kitchen equipment and appliances
? Able to follow instructions accurately and efficiently
? Able to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
? Physically able to stand and move around for long periods of time
