Edith Bowen Laboratory School at Utah State University is seeking a passionate and dedicated Elementary Orchestra Teacher to lead the elementary orchestra program. This part-time, 10 hours a week position offers a unique opportunity to work with students in grades 4-6 and help cultivate their musical abilities in a supportive and collaborative environment. Before and after school availability is required to accommodate the needs of the orchestra program.
Conducting Instructional Sessions: Lead instructional sessions for elementary orchestra students in grades 4-6, focusing on developing fundamental skills in playing string instruments. Curriculum Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that aligns with the goals and objectives of the elementary orchestra program, ensuring sequential learning and progression. Individual and Group Instruction: Provide both individual and group instruction to students, catering to their diverse learning needs and abilities. Rehearsals: Conduct rehearsals before and after school to prepare students for performances and events, fostering teamwork, discipline, and musical expression. Performance Preparation: Coordinate and prepare students for various performances, including concerts, recitals, and other school-related events, showcasing their musical achievements. Instrument Maintenance: Assist students with instrument maintenance and care, educating them on proper handling and upkeep to ensure the longevity and functionality of instruments. Communication: Maintain open and proactive communication with students, parents, and school administrators regarding students' progress, upcoming events, and any concerns or issues that may arise. Collaboration: Collaborate with fellow music educators, classroom teachers, and other school staff to integrate music education into the overall school curriculum and promote cross-disciplinary learning opportunities. Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay updated on current trends, methodologies, and best practices in music education, continuously enhancing teaching effectiveness and student learning outcomes. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field (Master's degree preferred) Valid teaching license or certification in Music Education Prior experience teaching elementary orchestra or string instruments preferred Proficiency in playing and teaching string instruments (violin, viola, cello, bass) Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment Commitment to fostering students' passion for music and promoting their overall growth and development Along with the online application, please attach:

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
