POSITION HIGHLIGHTS: The Parenting Educator supports all aspects of Alliance for Community Empowerment parenting programming. This position plans, coordinates, and implements school-based and community-based parenting education to advance the mission of the Alliance for Community Empowerment. This position is Monday - Friday from 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM and subject to change based on programmatic needs. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Possesses at least entry-level knowledge of the role and duties of the position; understands the department's roles and can meet the expectations of the position for work schedule, punctuality, attendance, time management, productivity, and quality of work. Operates as a reliable, flexible team player who works well with minimal supervision; has a good work ethic; can work effectively with team members demonstrating creativity, initiative, adaptability, and the ability to accept accountability and critical feedback. Is receptive to learning and responsive to supervision. Follows established procedures and can contribute to their improvement with a solution-oriented approach. Possesses the interpersonal skills needed to promote a safe, captivating, positive, and inclusive professional work environment conducive to effective service delivery; communicates effectively both orally and in writing. Demonstrates cultural competence/cultural humility in community relations and service delivery. Is sensitive to community, cultural, and personal dignity of program participants and can successfully engage, assess, and plan services for participants typical of the program's target population. Recognizes appropriate boundaries and limitations on interactions with program participants and their families and the need to maintain professional standards and practices. Is familiar with standard approaches to accurate participant record keeping, including timely follow-ups, notation formats, content limitations, and confidentiality practices. Possesses knowledge of programs, regulations, and procedures regarding health and human services, social services, justice, domestic violence prevention, and workforce development. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Attends and participates in all mandatory meetings. Develops and nurtures positive relationships with community members and partner organizations. Participate in cultural and community-building activities/events. Works to incorporate into organizational culture best practices for diversity, equity, inclusion, restorative justice, and trauma-informed care. Performs outreach and marketing duties to recruit participants and educate the community on ACE Services. Carries out intake and eligibility determinations and makes appropriate referrals when the applicant is not eligible for ACE services; conducts participant assessments leading to enrollment; completes and updates participant service plans. Arrange and participate in participants' family meetings, service meetings, team meetings, etc., and coordinate wrap-around services with other providers; provide transportation of participants to meet program goals. Organizes, coordinates, prepares, and delivers skills-based workshops and support groups for participants. Enters data into participant databases; assists in the writing of periodic program reports. Oversees the recruitment, screening, and enrollment of participants in parenting programming; establishes and maintains relationships with DCFS and other related agencies for collaboration and participant recruitment. Works collaboratively with DCFS Children's Social Workers and other members of the participant's care team to provide support to previous and current parenting participants. Coordinates, plans, and implements parenting classes, serving as the primary facilitator for parenting classes. Administers pre/post parenting assessments to participants and analyzes results to improve individual and programmatic outcomes. Assess participants' strengths and needs to best support their success in the program and refer them to resources in the community. Other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout facilities. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Must be able to bend, lift, stretch, climb, and crawl to provide services. QUALIFICATIONS: Upon acceptance of this position, applicants will be required to complete the parenting education certification program and stay current on the updated curricula while employed by the organization. Bachelor's Degree in Child Development or related field required, Master's Degree in Psychology, Child Development, or Social Work or related field preferred. 1 year of experience in group/classroom facilitation. Bilingual English/Spanish required. Possess a current California Driver's License, clean DMV record & adequate auto insurance. Must submit to a Department of Justice Criminal background check. Initial TB employment clearance required. The anticipated pay range for candidates who will work in California is $25 - $27 hourly. The offered pay to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, etc.
