JOB SUMMARY
La Cocina's Parental, Infancy & Early Childhood Mental Health (PIECMH) programs provide relationship-based, trauma-informed, and culturally-responsive neurodevelopmental assessment and therapy services to infants, young children and their caregivers, prenatally through eight years of age. All PIECMH services emphasize the vital role of caregivers in healthy child development. In addition to primary caregivers and families, PIECMH trainees will engage with community agencies and care providers that serve young children. PIECMH trainees will learn bilingual therapeutic psychological and neurodevelopmental evaluation approaches; relationship-based and developmentally-centered, and trauma-informed dyadic therapy models; and Liberation-Based Reflective Consultation (LiBRC) facilitation. Trainees will learn to use a reflective stance in clinical and consultative approaches and will receive regular reflective supervision of their PIECMH work by a supervisor with PIECMH expertise. Start date is flexible.
At this time La Cocina is seeking a postdoctoral fellow who is committed to learning and working with early childhood neuropsychological assessment and direct psychotherapeutic support. The right candidate will be able to learn both forms of Latine family support as part of an integrated, multidisciplinary approach to parental, infancy and early childhood mental health.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities for this position include, and are not limited to the following:
Clinical Services (65-75% of time) Provides linguistically-relevant and culturally-affirming therapeutic neurodevelopmental evaluation/assessment; this includes utilizing La Cocina's Therapeutic Neurodevelopmental Assessment and Feedback Framework alongside best practice approaches and innovation in care when conducting therapeutic evaluation that centers Latine clients' needs, and as directed by their supervisor. Provides developmentally sensitive, culturally affirming, trauma-informed psychotherapy services (to include individual, dyadic, family and/or group psychotherapy services) in both Spanish and English. In some cases, provides home-based, school-based, community-based, and/or collocated mental health and/or family support services which align with clinical program areas and as directed by their supervisor. Ensure that all clients are receiving services that are culturally relevant and appropriate (both on-site and within the community). Advocate for clients to receive culturally-relevant services wherever needed. Trains in La Cocina's Liberation Psychology approaches, including LiBRC (Liberation-Based Reflective Consultation ©) and other foundational training frameworks intended to build expertise in equitable and liberatory mental healthcare delivery frameworks and narratives. Participates in weekly one-one clinical/reflective supervision with their supervisor. Participates in weekly group clinical/reflective supervision and consultation. Other Duties (25-35% of the time) Connects clients with resources, referrals, ancillary services, and provides case management as needed, and/or as indicated by their supervisor. Remains compliant with all required clinical documentation, including maintaining up-to-date case files, progress notes, treatment plans, etc., per La Cocina Clinician's Handbook, and per DORA (Department of Regulatory Agencies) statutes. This includes time for monthly self-audit as directed by their supervisor. Supports outreach, engagement, and community-codesign efforts in the community, which may include coordination with and outreach to community partners and stakeholders, and supports development of outreach materials, program recruitment and registration, etc. Builds and maintains relationships with community organizations and/or partners to better meet the needs of clients, and to promote services coordination. Support the provision of services relevant to La Cocina's PIECMH grants, contacts, and programs. These services may include, but are not limited to, development and delivery of community Charlas, PIECMH consultation services, group facilitation, development and delivery of community-based trainings, support with program evaluation, and other tasks as relevant to program needs and as directed by direct supervisor(s) and Leadership Team. Attends monthly staff meetings in the interest of building community and advancing La Cocina's mission and values. Assists with other tasks and responsibilities as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS Fluency in Spanish and English required. Demonstrated clinical skill in assessment/evaluation, treatment, and crisis intervention. Awareness and sensitivity around issues of cultural attunement, specifically related to work with Latine communities. Ability to incorporate social justice perspectives into clinical work. This includes sensitivity in the areas of oppression, discrimination, and racism. Strong organizational, self-management, and problem-solving skills  Excellent communications skills, including written and verbal communications. Exceptional interpersonal skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Willingness to actively participate in individual and group reflective supervision and consultation. A learner's stance which translates to becoming proficient in La Cocina's Liberation-Based services. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Applicants must have completed all graduation requirements from a doctoral program in clinical, counseling, or school psychology.  Experience providing neurodevelopmental assessment and facilitating groups is preferred. WORK ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION This is a hybrid in-person, virtual position, with four (4) days in the office and one day working from home/virtually. Because this position supports work in La Cocina's Northern Colorado and Denver office locations, in-person is required at both locations, with specific days at each location decided upon after hire. This position also requires periodic travel to partner agencies throughout Northern Colorado, the Denver Metro Area, statewide, and may involve some travel out-of-state.
Note: this position is based out of La Cocina's Northern Colorado office location; however, depending on need, the postdoctoral fellow selected for this role will also provide some support to La Cocina's Denver office location clients. HOURS This is a full-time (40-hours per week) position that requires availability some evenings and weekends in order to support La Cocina's clients' needs. La Cocina offers Flex Time as a benefit to all full-time, exempt employees.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
MATERIALS & EQUIPMENT USED Ability to operate all general office equipment including computer, printer, copier, fax, and phones. Ability to operate and drive vehicles for work related travel, meetings, and to run errands. 
CLASSIFICATION & PAY This position's starting salary is $58,000-$68,000 depending on qualifications and organizational alignment.
This is a full-time, exempt position and is eligible for benefits. La Cocina's benefits include health insurance, 401K retirement plan, flex-time, PTO and agency closures both in summer and winter.
