Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a valid driver's license;
A baccalaureate degree; or,
A minimum of one year experience in which paralegal or legal secretarial work was a major duty; or,
Completion of a Paralegal Studies or Legal Assistant study program; or,
Possession of the Certified Paralegal (CP) certification issued by the National Association of Legal Assistant, Inc.
Job Concepts
The duties of the Paralegal shall include, but are not limited to the following:
Provide paralegal support for one or more Assistant Attorneys General;
Perform recurring duties independently;
Review and prepare summaries of records;
Schedule depositions and other appearances for trial counsel;
Calendar and monitor legal deadlines for filing pleadings and/or discovery responses;
Draft pleadings, memoranda, correspondence, and other documentation associated with case defense;
Organize and maintain paper and electronic records on cases and assist in preparation of the file for trial;
Interview potential witness in preparation for trial;
Research and draft legal opinions;
Accept additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.
