The selected candidate is expected to work a minimum of the first two weeks in the office to assist in learning the position. This position is responsible for ensuring the framework and parameters are properly set to allow for accurate and timely distribution of all customer sales invoices, sales returns and credit memos. The automated processing and technical adjustments required to maintain this functionality is complex but also critical to the overall mission of the organization. This position provides the order entry assistance for staff at each of the 12 Michigan State Industries factories. This work requires extensive knowledge of the Global Shop Solutions (GSS) ERP system, as well as a working knowledge of all individual MSI factory operations. This knowledge and understanding is crucial for the accurate and successful shipping, invoicing and crediting of MSI accounts, as each factory end of the month processing depends on the type of operations (i.e., laundry services, garment sales and plate manufacturing) that it runs. This position also responds to customer inquiries regarding outstanding orders, invoicing, payments and general questions regarding product. This position supports factory staff as needed as well as enters actual sales orders based on staff workload and customer order volume. This position provides order entry and operational knowledge to management for decision making and problem solving. This position will also work closely with MDOC Recruiting and MDOC Training to manage the MDOC Officer Uniform initial issue to newly hired staff. . This position will require significant travel in a state vehicle and will sometimes be required to work in the secure perimeter of Correctional Facilities on occasion. Experience Departmental Technician 7 One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service.
Departmental Technician 8 One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service.
OR
One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service.
Departmental Technician E9 One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.
Alternate Education and Experience Departmental Technician 7 Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Departmental Technician 8 Possession of a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Departmental Technician E9 Possession of a Bachelor's degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.
