Summary The Operator 2 is responsible for operating a variety of CNC controlled machinery such as plasma tables, seamers, milling machines and drill tables to fabricate railcar component parts to meet close and complex tolerances.
Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices. Assembles and grinds products such as carbon and stainless steel, or aluminum, using grinders, tables or conveyor systems. Uses hand tools such as wrenches, electric tools, ratchets, saws, presses, drills and tape measures. Monitors output and proper operation of mechanical equipment. Adjusts parts to ensure quality requirements are met. Conducts regular inspections of parts produced through measurements. Reads drawings and follows production standards. Navigates computer controls to operate and maintain proper equipment output. Ensures that safety and housekeeping standards are met and maintained. Qualifications The following generally describes requirements to successfully perform the assigned duties. Minimum Qualifications 6+ months experience operating various types of manufacturing equipment and machinery Ability to work in a team or independently Ability to follow oral and written instructions Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects effectively Ability to adhere to deadlines Preferred Qualifications High School diploma or equivalency test/GED Ability to use and read tape measures Ability to read blueprints and schematics Machine operation knowledge of CNC controlled machines Work Environment and Physical Requirements Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
