SUMMARY: Under general supervision, performs professional and administrative work in all phases of planning, development, and operation of Town and County parks and recreational facilities.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. The job description is subject to change at any time by the employer. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Sets division goals; implements short-term and long-range plans; develops and supports innovative problem solving. Allocates resources to ensure efficient, effective, and sustainable operations. Develops, implements, and verifies compliance with division standards and expectations. Plans, prioritizes, and develops departmental budget and five-year capital project plans. Conducts interviews, hires, supervises, and evaluates employees; assists, supports, and mentors staff; communicates and enforces Department and County policies and procedures. Assists field crews with maintenance and care duties as needed. Supervises Parks Shop Mechanic responsible for repairing and maintaining Parks vehicles and machinery. Supports the relationship between the Teton County staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture, Turf Science, Facility Management, or related field 5+ years of experience parks facilities operations and management 3+ years supervisory responsibility Required Licenses and Certifications: Must possess a valid Wyoming/Idaho Driver's License and maintain an acceptable driving record. Certified Parks and Recreation Professional. Required Knowledge of: Principles and practices of human resources management. Methods of facilities and grounds maintenance, horticulture, and forestry/landscaping. Principles and practices of effective project management, leadership, supervision and training. Principles, practices, and regulations involved in accounting, budget development, and implementation. Department and County policies and procedures. Required Skills in: Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with coworkers and other individuals in contact during the course of work; communicating clearly and concisely. Operating a personal computer utilizing standard software such as Microsoft Office and some specialized software; functioning standard office equipment. Assessing, prioritizing and completing multiple tasks and demands simultaneously; delegating work assignments. Developing and implementing budgets. Physical Demands/Work Environment: Work is performed both indoors in a protected environment and outdoors. May be required to assist field crews with maintenance and care duties; may be exposed to dangerous tools and equipment. Safety precautions must be followed, including use of safety equipment.
