POSITION SUMMARY The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the organization's inside sales, warehouse & service activities, ensuring they are efficient, safe, and meet standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES Ensuring all operations are carried out in an appropriate, cost-effective way. Improving operational management systems, processes, and best practices. Helping the organization's processes remain legally compliant. Formulating strategic and operational objectives. Examining financial data and using it to improve profitability. Managing budgets and forecasts. Evaluating quality controls. Recruiting, training, and supervising inside staff. Finding ways to increase quality of customer service. Oversee service with a focus on applied labor. Ensure inventory levels are appropriate to meet the needs of customers. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises employees within the Operations department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 3-5 years of managerial experience. Knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management. Experience budgeting and forecasting. Familiarity with business and financial principles. Excellent communication skills. Leadership ability. Outstanding organizational skills. Experience with Epicor Prophet 21 is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical requirements for this position are typical for an office and distribution warehouse environment, including time spent in a stationary position, at a desk using a computer terminal and keyboard. In addition, there may be a requirement to assist with picking, packing & shipping of industrial parts and equipment. Forklift training will be required within 90 days of employment. Occasionally lifting up to 50lbs with equipment assistance may be necessary.
WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment for this position is typical for an office and distribution warehouse including protection from weather conditions and typical office, warehouse equipment and testing equipment noise.
