Operation Room Technician

Operation Room Technician Responsibilities: Assist with Quality Assurance program, pertinent to Surgical Services Department. Prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures. Before an operation, surgical technologists prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions. Performs other duties as assigned. Participates in turnover activities and room set up for each surgical procedure. Assists with surgical set up including the connection of suction, electrical cords, power cables and electrocautery. Uses supplies in a cost effective manner. Assists with room turn over and maintenance of the operating room environment. Breaks down the operating room following each surgical procedure. Assists with ensuring adequate supply of stock for patient care. Ensures for safety in the care of the surgical patient: Demonstrates knowledge and skills in the selection and assembly of equipment for specific cases. Performs decontamination of equipment following procedure. Tags instruments which need to be replaced before sending to CSS. Identifies contaminated, damaged and missing items from instrumentation sets. Performs flash sterilization using Flashpaks.
