The Housing Stability Grants area of the Health and Human Services department is seeking to fill an Office Specialist III position with an individual who has effective customer service and communication skills, the ability to learn how to navigate and utilize various computer programs, and the desire to serve the community.

This position is remote. Remote workers may be required to come on-site 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings, trainings, or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training). Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicable. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with flexibility. Based on business needs of this position, hires must live in or relocate to Minnesota.
New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment. About the position type:

In this position, you will: Answer phone calls and/or emails from tenants and property managers about rent assistance. Assist with payment request forms in APEX. Input data into the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). Assist with running reports from HMIS. Assist with completing quarterly and annual reports for funders.
Need to have: One of the following: Two years or more of office clerical experience. Two years or more of related post-high school education. 18 months or more of office clerical experience and completion of the Office Specialist Pathway Training program . One year or more of office clerical experience an d completion of the Human Services Pathway Training Program . Nice to have: Experience: Working with the HMIS computerized system to input, retrieve, interpret, and modify data and information  where accuracy is essential. Serving clients and supporting staff using various communication methods, while giving clear and concise information and/or direction. Working with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word).
Ability to: Work effectively and communicate with individuals from a variety of cultural and lifestyle backgrounds in a respectful and non-judgmental manner. Handle multiple complex and simultaneous tasks by setting priorities to meet deadlines. Provide effective customer service skills with the ability to conduct oneself professionally and handle sensitive/difficult issues in a tactful manner. Be adaptable and flexible with daily job duties. About the department:
