CWS Northeast Region is looking for an extremely detail oriented person to build and improve processes for growing and new resettlement offices. The Northeast Regional Accountant will oversee the overall and daily business operations of some of the existence and newly created local offices. The position oversees New York, Indianapolis, Rochester, Delaware and Michigan and other locations finances and account payables by leading a team of Sr. Accountants as they complete tasks related to financial tracking and donations. Preference is for the candidate to be near one of our office locations.
Finance and Accounting: Cash Management forecasts, Assistance to complete monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for funders and auditors. Coordinates with finance team to prepare accurate monthly reimbursement reports for all funding sources. Reviews monthly reports from CWS's finance headquarters for accuracy in consultation with the Local/Regional Finance Directors, Associate Directors, and other Finance staff. Tracks budgets versus actual spending across all program areas and advises Regional Director on spending trends. Coordinates with Local/Regional Finance Directors to develop annual office budget and assists with revisions throughout the fiscal year. Provides backup to the Regional Finance Director – Cash Assistance to support the check distribution process to ensure compliance with donor/funder requirements for record keeping and reporting. Develops a system for tracking revenue and expenses throughout the year. Standardize spending reports for all programs each month and monitors expenditures against budget. Provides quality control and monitoring for individual client per capita finance logs for accuracy. Team Leadership Selects and supervises team members, providing periodic performance assessments and recommendations for professional development. Participates on interview teams as needed. Tracks staff FTE allocations to each program and provides feedback to Northeast Director based on spending trends across grants. Other Office Support Reviews and approves requests for purchase of office supplies, including stationery orders for Northeast allocated local sites.  Develop internal system for receiving bids for services to the New York, Indianapolis, Rochester, Delaware and Michigan offices in accordance with CWS's procurement policy. Communicates with CWS office in Elkhart for local information needed regarding credit cards, stamps.com account, as well as other office-support accounts. Works with local office Directors/Operations Manager to maintain office lease documents and other records related to spaces rented for the above mentioned location. Ensures that lease renewals or contract extensions are completed on time. Assists in grant proposals on an as needed basis. Supervises a team of 2-3 individuals providing finance operations for the local offices. Education: Bachelor's Degree required. Experience:  5 years of related work experience working with federal grants, nonprofit organizations or State or local Agencies. 5 years in office management, human resources, or budgeting and finance experience strongly preferred. At least 2 years' experience supervising and managing others. Knowledge of resettlement programs, particularly ORR funded resettlement programs, required. Strong budgeting and organizational skills required. Other Skills:  The successful candidate must be computer literate, with proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word and Excel) and internet applications. Exceptional organizational and time management skills are required. Excellent communication skills are essential.
