DUTIES:
Research coordination and data collection (70%)
? Coordinate and conduct pre-selected research participantsâ™ semi-structured interviews (both patients and genetic counselor participants) including asking interview questions, tailoring interview based on participantsâ™ survey responses, and adhering to quality interviewing practices
? Assist the Research Coordinator in de-identifying audio recorded genetic counseling sessions and other research data by maintaining strict confidentiality
Data analysis and administrative tasks (30%)
? Perform thematic analysis and review of interview data from patients and genetic counselors and enter research information into appropriate study databases
? Assist in the education and mentoring of undergraduate RAs
THE PROJECT:
GC-PRO (Genetic Counseling Processes Result in Outcomes) is a large, multi-site research study examining the process of genetic counseling. The researchers are attempting to identify the aspects of genetic counseling sessions that contribute to positive outcomes and experiences for patients. The study involves collecting surveys from patients who will be meeting with a genetic counselor for cancer, heart disease, or prenatal/reproductive care, and audio recording their genetic counseling session. By studying genetic counseling processes in real clinic settings, our goal is to better understand efficient, quality genetic counseling care. GC-PRO is also working with community partners to incorporate input from understudied communities in order to ultimately improve genetic counseling services for diverse patient populations. QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications:
? Experience working within a healthcare setting and/or handling Protected Health Information
? Interest in genetic counseling-related research including qualitative methodologies and interviewing
Preferred Qualifications:
? Graduate from the University of Minnesota Genetic Counseling Program or related M.S. field
? Interest in genetic counseling-related research including qualitative methodologies and interviewing
? Familiarity with RedCap database, Epic Electronic Medical Record system, and Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, etc.)
? Organized, detail-oriented, and committed to completing tasks fully and on time
? Excellent verbal communication skills with subjects and staff
