The New Business Liaison Supervisor (NBLS) supports the Conflicts Operations Manager (COM) by supervising a team of New Business Liaisons (NBLs) who are assigned to work with specific Firm attorneys to expedite the new business acceptance process, ensure full compliance with Firm policies and other requirements. The NBLS is responsible for the creation of Conflicts Search Requests (CSRs) and New Business Forms (NBFs) used by the Conflicts/New Business Department to create new clients/matters. The NBLS will foster a high-performing, collaborative team by coordinating with NBLs, Conflicts Staff Attorneys (CSAs), Conflicts/New Business Supervisors, Partners, and Legal Secretaries to ensure the accuracy and integrity of conflicts and client/matter information captured during the new business acceptance process. To accomplish this, the NBLS will be responsible for creating a training program and best practices to further the development of the NBL role.
Lead the development of the New Business Liaison role as an integral part of the conflicts and new business intake process that provides an enhanced level of service to the Firm. Oversee the day-to-day processing of CSR's and NBF's by the NBL's ensuring proper communication, the timely flow of information and the highest level of customer service provided to the partners. Assists in processing any overflow of CSRs and New Client Evaluations from NBLs who may need help in completing their CSRs and New Client Evaluations in order to maintain the Conflicts/New Business Department's current turnaround time. Works closely with the COM and the Conflicts/New Business Supervisors to develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the standardization of data and information in the firm's conflicts database. Works closely and communicates regularly with assigned Partners to ensure their clients/matters are opened quickly and efficiently in a way that preserves the high quality of content contained within the conflicts database. Works closely with the COM, the Conflicts/New Business Supervisors, and the CSAs to identify additional Partners that would be candidates to have an NBL assigned to them. Prepares and regularly updates documentation used in training of new and current staff both within and outside the Conflicts/New Business Department on the processes and procedures related to requesting and processing of CSRs and NBFs. Assists and advises the COM and Conflicts/New Business Supervisors in identifying, interviewing and hiring additional NBLs. Plays a lead role in the development, implementation and testing of new tools and applications used to facilitate conflicts searching, clearance and new business intake. Education and/or Experience:
Required:
Bachelor's Degree A minimum of 4 years of experience in conflicts or new business intake or similar compliance/risk management role at a large law firm or similar professional services environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office (esp. Word and Excel) Advanced proficiency in boolean searching and one or more enterprise conflicts search applications (such as Elite Enterprise, LegalKey, Intapp Open, Compliguard Analyze, etc.) Preferred:
A minimum of 1 years of experience supervising or managing staff Other Skills and Abilities:
