We are looking for a talented Neurodiagnostic Tech to join our team here at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
Job Summary:
Under direct supervision, performs routine neurological tests to include EEG's (Electroencephalograms). May perform basic visual and auditory evoked potentials for use in diagnosis of neurological disorders. Performs electroencephalograph tests (EEG) on patients in order to record patient brain waves and nervous system responses.
The Neurodiagnostic Technician performs routine neurological tests to include EEG's (Electroencephalograms) in order to record patient brain waves and nervous system responses. Other duties include performing basic visual and auditory evoked potentials to provide quantitative and objective measures of sensory functioning for use in diagnosis of neurological disorders. Clerical duties such as maintaining patient logs and records as well as completion of billing procedures are required. The tech will also be responsible for general cleaning, maintenance and calibration records of all electroneurodiagnostic equipment.

Qualifications
Basic understanding of neurophysiology and neuroanatomy to record and analyze patient brain activity.
Ability to apply the principles of EEG and evoked potential monitoring to record patient brain activity for the purpose of diagnosing neurological disorders.
Ability to acquire the principles of electrical safety as it relates to the safe operation of monitoring equipment.
Ability to operate, maintain and perform simple repairs on EEG and evoked potential monitoring equipment.
Completion of a high school level of course work with attainment of a high school diploma or possession of a state High School Equivalency Certificate (GED) is required.
College courses in anatomy, physiology, and biology are preferred.
A minimum of one year general healthcare experience such as providing patient care in a health care environment performing the duties of a Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant with experience in Neurology.
EEG Tech with one year experience performing EEG's, Evoked Potentials, or Polysomnograph testing is also preferred.
