Responsible for directing, coordinating, and executing network installation and maintenance of the campus network infrastructure.Provides technical support and problem resolution to moderately complex and/or non-routine network, telephone, and wireless issues.Responsible for maintaining the campus cable plant.

Responsibilities
• Performs the installation and configuration of distribution and access level network, telephone, and wireless equipment and software.• Performs routine maintenance on distribution and access layer network, telephone, and wireless equipment and infrastructure.• Performs network, telephone, and wireless testing and troubleshoots issues.• Manages and coordinates network, telephone, and wireless equipment back-ups and restorations following prescribed protocols.• Assists network engineers in the evaluation of new network, telephone, and wireless hardware, software, and cabling technologies.• Oversees fiber termination, splicing, testing, certification; copper termination and testing.• Responsible for cable plant maintenance and documentation.• May coordinates with outside entities for fiber and copper cable installations.• Reviews and makes recommendations regarding fiber and copper cabling specifications, industry standards, and best practices to maintain campus cable plant up to date.• Analyzes circuits and equipment using specialized hand tools and electronic testing or monitoring equipment such as OTDR to diagnose malfunctions and ensure correct system operations.• Performs network assessments on new cabling project requests.• Performs inspections of contractor cabling installation work to ensure compliance with project requirements.• Assists in providing support for Call Center agents, softphones, desktop endpoints, and analog devices.• Assists in configuring and maintaining voice gateways.• Assists in the preparation and upkeep of network documentation.• Works on project tasks, change tasks, incidents, problems, and service requests for supporting network infrastructure and to provide technical support.• Participates in weekly trouble ticket support rotation and must be available on an "On call" basis.• Provides support to senior staff on network projects.• Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Associate's degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field, or a comparable substitution of experience and education on a 1-for-1 basis.• Four (4) years of experience installing and supporting hardware, software and networking technologies, or a comparable substitution of experience and education on a 1-for-1 basis.
