Summary
The Network Engineer's role working under the guidance of the IT Director is to ensure the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video, and wireless network services. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide-area networks (WANs) across the organization. In addition, the Network Engineer will participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end-user training where required. The Network Engineer will provide technical leadership to senior and junior Network Administrators in specific areas of responsibility.
The Information Technology (IT) department for the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians (Soboba Casino Resort) supports a leading-edge technology infrastructure to the organization in support of ever-changing technological advances in the Gaming industry business enterprises. The ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is key to the IT staff's success in meeting the demands of this technically proficient and high demand department.
Duties/Responsibilities
Collaborate with executive management and department leaders to assess near- and long-term network capacity needs.
Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
Design and deploy company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including servers, routers, hubs, switches, UPSs, and other hardware.
Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.
Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end-user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines, and other network appliances.
Manage servers, including database, e-mail, print, and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
Participate in managing all network security solutions.
Perform server and security audits, and system backups and recovery.
Manage and/or guide junior members of the team.
Perform special projects and other responsibilities, tasks, or duties as requested.

Serve as a contributing Team Member of the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians, enhancing the Casino's operations in all its business endeavors.
Education / Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years of age.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Bachelor's in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience preferred.
CCNA required.
CCNP preferred.
Minimum of five (5-7) years' experience required.
Minimum of five (5) years' experience in a Network Engineering role required.
Proven hands-on network engineering experience preferred.
Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN design and implementation.
Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
Strong, hands-on technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Cisco.
Excellent knowledge of telephony systems, including Cisco, Avaya, Juniper.
Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards, including Cisco.
Excellent hardware troubleshooting experience.
Extensive application support experience with Cisco.
Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits.
Good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
Capable of writing proposals, procedures, policies, and technical documentation preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with management.
Capable of assisting with the design of infrastructure projects required
Capable of critical thinking and resolving complex problems preferred
Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language.
Keen attention to detail.
Strong decision-making ability.
Able to work in fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Strong positive, can-do approach.
Capable of working unsupervised.
Must be able to provide evidence of eligibility to work in the United States of America.
Certificates, licenses, and registration
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Soboba Tribal Gaming Commission license.
Required to submit to and obtain negative results on all drug and/or alcohol testing.
