ODNR owns and manages state parks, state forests, state nature preserves and wildlife areas. We license all hunting, fishing and watercraft; oversee and permit all mineral extraction, monitor dam safety, manage water resources and serve as the second largest Law Enforcement presence in the State of Ohio.
We are accepting applications for a Natural Resources Engineer 1 within the Division of Water assigned to Franklin county. The address is 2045 Morse Road Columbus, OH 43229. To learn more about the Division of Water please visit
What you will do: Assists in reviews of detailed construction plans and specifications for dams and levees for compliance with appropriate criteria and makes recommendations for approval, disapproval, or modification of the plans to project manager. Assists with detailed hydrologic, hydraulic and stability analyses of embankments that includes analysis of spillways and other appurtenances to evaluate their integrity and safety. Travels to dam sites throughout the state of Ohio to conduct and assist with detailed engineering inspections of existing and proposed dams. Prepares, assists, and reviews written reports of inspections Starting hourly pay of $27.84/ hour with multiple pay increases over your first 9 years of service and an ending hourly pay of $40.77/hour. Engineering degree from recognized school or college which has been accredited by accreditation board for engineering & technology or that has been evaluated by National Council of Examiners for Engineering & Surveying (NCEES) Credentials Evaluations as meeting the NCEES Engineering Education Standard.

Knowledge of civil, coastal, or agricultural engineering; field investigation techniques & methods; geographic information management systems; agency, state & federal engineering laws, rules & guidelines. Ability to interpret extensive variety of technical material in books, journals & manuals; use geometry & trigonometry; review, prepare & edit specifications, construction plans & related engineering documents & prepare technical reports.
