The Office is responsible for engaging members of diverse cultural and language communities in the life and leadership of the Diocese, parishes and related Catholic organizations. The Office provides resources to parishes, the diocese, and the ethnic cultural communities, in an effort to respond to diverse pastoral needs and concerns.The Program Specialist provides support within the Office and assists in the development and facilitation of the many diverse programs and pastoral initiatives of the Office of Multicultural Ministries. The Program Specialist engages and encourages the full participation of the diocesan multicultural communities through the implementation of diocesan initiatives and national plans adopted by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.PRINCIPAL DUTIES:External Program Administration• Design, support, and project manage programs and events that increase the vitality of the cultural diversity of the diocese. Responsibilities include (but not limited to):Creates new programs, maintains ongoing programs, coordinates annual Masses and ethnic celebrations across the diocese.Serves as primary liaison to parish multicultural leaders, clergy (diocesan and non-diocesan) and parish staff to coordinate and implement activities, Masses and events;Coordinates and schedules all meetings and activities carried out by the Office of Multicultural Ministries;Develops materials for meetings and activities for the spiritual and pastoral needs of the culturally diverse within the diocese;Prepares event logistics, diagrams, and event related materials, with the coordination of parish and facility staff under the direction of the Director.Independently manages, and coordinates related diocesan parish staff and facility managers for cultural programs, activities and events.Establishes, builds, and maintains trust relationships with the diocesan multicultural communities, which include;Serving as a resource to parishes, multicultural leaders and communities on cultural identity, events and activities.Instructing diocesan, parish, and community workshops and courses, on Building Intercultural Competency for Ministers (USCCB Program)Working directly with lay and clergy leaders assigned by the Bishop to spiritually advise multicultural cultural Catholic groups.Internal Office AdministrationCoordinates daily workflow of tasks related to multicultural ministries, upcoming events, and collaborations with other Chancery offices. Maintains communication with involved staff, including updates to the Director, to ensure assignments and tasks are completed.Prepares routine and advance correspondence, assists with tracking the progress of critical, confidential and time sensitive documents.Expands the visibility and vitality of the multicultural diverse to include responsibility for the design, promotion, content, and implementation of the Office of Multicultural Ministries website and social media presence.Develops media content and multicultural event materials as needed, including, but not limited to, flyers, posters, bulletins and web announcements. Coordinates with outside vendors for special projects.Handles all Office of Multicultural Office accounting functions and administrative details.Analyzes and presents summarized information for the Director of Multicultural Ministries. Continually investigates areas of potential process improvement and works toward increased efficiencies.• QUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge/Skills:Working knowledge of office machines and equipment. Proven competencies in Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge and understanding of Adobe Creative Suite.Ability to communicate effectively with strong public speaking skills. Knowledge of maintaining a strong social media presence a plus.Strong interpersonal and collaboration skillsMust be accurate and detail oriented.Strong working knowledge and understanding of church liturgy, organization, social teaching and operational procedures. Knowledge of the diversity in the US Catholic Church, or bilingual, in a language other than English, a plus.The ideal candidate will have an outgoing personality and be passionate about working across cultural divides.Education Required: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent.Years and Types of Experience: Minimum of three to five years progressive experience in a culturally diverse administrative business office environment.
