Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary Perform MRI examinations for evaluation by research activities in the Center for Clinical Imaging Research (CCIR), East Imaging MRI facility in the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR). Be willing to learn and utilize new MR imaging technologies to help educate and train research and clinical technologists/personnel. Consult and work with CCIR, EBMRI, and NRB personnel to implement best practices to create and maintain efficient, world-class support of CCIR-based projects and infrastructure. Maintain & accommodate schedule changes to provide maximum flexibility & utilization of CCIR resources. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities Perform MRI scans on the subjects enrolled in the research studies approved by Washington University in an organized and timely fashion. Render appropriate patient triage & care and provide guidance for the MRI procedures during the process. Develop and maintain research records in an accurate and timely manner, including the collection and management of electronic and digital data, burning disks when required. Facilitate data transfer to various computer platforms and software programs using IT management tools; ensure that HIPPA regulations are maintained in data transfer and rapidly notify the CCIR management of any violation or computer performance issue that may compromise HIPPA procedures. Work with and help train staff, as appropriate, help implement and develop instruction resources and best practices for project coordination. Establish and maintain strong communication and feedback paths with other CCIR staff and R&D groups, including (if needed) participation in monitoring visits conducted by the research study sponsor and/or regulatory agency by providing clarification, research data and reports. Preferred Qualifications Four-year college degree in science-related field or significant relevant experience working in a MR-based research environment. Firm understanding of Siemens equipment operation. Think logically and demonstrate analytical & problem solving skills. Concentrate on tasks for up to four hours with no break. Communicate clearly both orally & in writing. Work in a team-based environment. Work with great accuracy & attention to detail. Prioritize work assignments and be able to work under the pressure of deadlines. Work at computer terminal or typewriter for up to four hours with no break. Lift and carry small office machines and office supplies weighing up to 30 lbs. Push and pull up to 40 lbs. Operate office equipment, MR scanner and related equipment. Demonstrate visual acuity, field of vision, depth perception and color vision to perform laboratory operations. Demonstrate average hearing in order to monitor subjects, transcribe dictation and communicate using a phone. Stoop, kneel, reach and manipulate small laboratory equipment. Work in laboratory environment with exposure to strong magnetic fields, radiation, non-toxic fumes and odors. Foster and work in team-based, customer focused environment. Required Qualifications One to three years relevant experience as a MRI technologist to include experience in research environment. At least one-year research experience or equivalent combination of training & experience. Knowledge of the function of Siemens MR scanners and related computers & medical imaging devices. Must meet certification requirements of the American Registry of Radiological Technologists, or equivalent. Grade C12-H Salary Range $29.21 - $45.28 / Hourly
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
