ABOUT THE ROLEThe Mine Engineer II is an on-site engineering support role. The Mine Engineer II assists minemanagement in ensuring that operations are run in a safe manner, in compliance with all governmentalrequirements, and in the most efficient and effective way possible. The Mine Engineer II is generallyresponsible for mine planning, support in drill and blasting, and special projects as they arise, andfederal and state regulatory documentation. The Mine Engineer II may collaborate with a team ofengineers to help optimize other local mining operations.WHAT YOU'll BE DOING• Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all workenvironments and areas.• Surveying and mapping of surface mine advance and all appropriate mine features• Blasting optimization - cost, fragmentation analysis, production impacts, etc.• Ensuring appropriate ground support is implemented• Assisting in managing the crew, as required• Completing design work and cost analyses for special projects, as required• Observing and tracking mining conditions and practices for continuous improvement• Assisting with safety training and record keeping• Assisting with green fielding and other new site development• Providing technical assistance for mine management, as required• Work closely with site management• Other duties as assigned.WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:Education: Bachelor's degree or 4 years of equivalent experience.Field of Study Preferred: MiningRequired Work Experience: 3+ years of experienceRequired Computer and Software Skills: Good computer skills, with proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft ExcelTravel Requirements: MinimalAdditional Requirements:Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.Demonstrated strong leadership, team building and communication (verbal and written) skills are required.
