Job Summary CIS is a JK-12 college preparatory, independent school with a rich history of whole-child education and a global perspective. CIS is seeking a Middle and Upper School Learning Specialist who will work closely with teachers and division directors to design and provide broad-based learning support for students primarily in the Middle School with transitional support for students in the Upper School as needed. The Learning Specialist works individually and in groups with students; supervises or advises on all Middle School and Upper School Service Plans, evaluations of student needs, and accommodations; teaches Learn to Learn, a sixth-grade study skills and executive functioning class; and serves as a Middle School advisory leader. The Middle and Upper School Learning Specialist also supports teachers with differentiation strategies for enrichment and support and provides professional development as needed.   
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Create, maintain, monitor, and update all Service Plans for students 6-12th grade and communicate them with teachers, parents, and students. Work in a team approach with the division director, coordinator of learning support, and counselor to establish and ensure the provision of accommodations. Coordinate all internal and external learning support documentation and services for 6th to 12th-grade students. Ensure testing accommodations for ERB, AP, SAT, ACT, and admissions testing. Prepare and conduct presentations for faculty for professional development and offer teacher coaching in best practices. Design and organize individualized learning, executive functioning, and study skills support, including check-in/checkout procedures; pull-out and push-in interventions; communication with teachers and parents regarding progress; and follow-up regarding students of concern (teachers, students, parents, and outside agencies). Provide support in science, math, and humanities. Manage the Student Success Center, coordinating bookings, payments, refunds, reschedules, materials, and tutors, including hiring outside tutors when needed. Teach 6th grade Learn to Learn and lead a 6th-grade Pride. Ability to supervise a structured study hall or teach a section of a 6th-grade Humanities class collaboratively with another 6th-grade teacher. Meet weekly with the coordinator of learning support. Perform other duties as assigned. Additional Duties and Responsibilities Assist the admissions committee by assessing applicants as needed. Connect with other private schools skilled in differentiation. Analyze and interpret ERB score data. Qualifications Bachelor's degree Proficiency with remedial STEM support for grades 6-12 Minimum of 2-5 years teaching experience is preferred Demonstrated passion for working with children and an understanding of the developmental needs of the age group Effective written and oral communicator Commitment to the success of every student Proven collaborator and team member Innovative and optimistic thinker Life-long learner with a growth mindset Interested candidates should submit a Letter of Interest, a Statement of Educational Philosophy, and a Resume/CV via email to .
