Goldbelt Integrated Logistics Services (GbILS) provides four specific areas of expertise—Logistics Engineering, Measurement Sciences, Program Management, and Technical Support—serving the scientific, technical, and engineering needs of clients. Summary: Position requires experience in metrology principles and calibration as applied to all measurement disciplines. Position requires extensive knowledge in the K1/K8 section of the Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) and basic knowledge in other lab sections . This position primarily consists of calibration/repair of the laboratory K1/K8 Test Measurement Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) standards and customer TMDE. Will assist other calibration sections as workload permits .  
Ess ential Job Functions: This position requires the Metrology Technician to apply advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturer's manuals or similar documents, to include, but not limited to, the following:
Provide calibration and repair services on electronic, electro-mechanical, physical, dimensional, mechanical, and optical Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) in the assigned Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL). Meet turnaround time, throughput and availability requirements IAW the PWS, AFMAN 21-113, TO 00-20-14, AFI 21-101, and other directives while maintaining high quality. Perform general and advanced maintenance and overhaul procedures. Replace mechanical components and wiring circuits. Utilize TMDE to troubleshoot and repair systems and circuit boards to component level, to include surface-mount technology. Capture test readings using common instruments such as oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, pulse generators, power meters, torque calibrator, temperature, and pressure measurement devices. Read, interpret, and analyze block, schematic, and wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical publications. Operate under minimal supervision and receive technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or Quality Assurance when needed, collaborate with another Technician or seek PMO guidance. Provide technical guidance and training, if required, to other technicians and maintain training records as required. Train in additional areas/sections as required. Participate in Root Cause Analysis as required. Participate in Internal Audits as required. Participate in Proficiency Testing/Measurement Assurance Program as required. Participate in Measurement Assurance Area calibrations as required. Perform additional duties as directed by supervisor. Necessary Skills and Knowledge: Familiarity with metrology principles and techniques, calibration laboratory practices and compliance with applicable directives.   Knowledge of electrical, electronics, electro-mechanical, mechanical, and thermal principles; mathematics and number systems .    Knowledge of electrical theory, electronics and/or physics, and operating principles of TMDE.   Good organizational skills, with the ability to establish priorities.    Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written .   Proven record of honesty and integrity in all relationships .   Computer skills to include use of Microsoft Office (Excel, WORD, Outlook) .   Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent .   Minimum of four (4) years PMEL or calibration technical experience .   Experience to include inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling, aligning, calibrating, and certifying TMDE, and metrology laboratory working standards Must have a valid and current driver's license .   All applicants must pass a drug test .   All applicants must be able to lift 50 pounds .   Must be a U.S citizen able to acquire and retain a security clearance.   Preferred Qualifications : Formal USAF PMEL School   Experience in a USAF PMEL .   Knowledge of the USAF PMEL Automated Management System, the USAF Metrology and Calibration Program, and the USAF Quality System and Quality Program .   Pay and Benefits
