Responsibilities This opportunity is for full-time (36 hours per week) Mental Health Technician (MHT).  The position offers full benefits and a convenient weekday (7am - 3pm) plus every other Saturday & Sunday (7am - 7pm) shift.

Our 164-bed inpatient services for adolescents through senior adulthood offers comprehensive and individual assessments, psychiatric evaluation and medication stabilization, daily group therapy and personalized aftercare planning. We also offer a Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program to ensure the continuum of care for our patients. Old Vineyard is accredited by The Joint Commission and certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. MHTs provide direct care to adolescent and/or adult patients with psychiatric disorders, to ensure the safety and well-being of the patient(s).  MHTs have the primary responsibility for ensuring the patient's safety on the unit utilizing a therapeutic approach to all tasks including assistance with daily living activities, facilitation of skill-building groups, assisting in the intake and discharge process, and enforcement of hospital and unit rules intended to keep the patients, staff, and visitors safe.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations including male and female adolescents and adults as well as dually diagnosed adults. In absence of these qualifications upon hire, must demonstrate ability to learn these concepts and develop these skills within reasonable time frame via the organization's orientation and training program.
Required Education :
Bachelor's degree in health or human services.
Required Experience :
If no degree, three years prior psychiatric experience required.
Required Licensure/Certification :
CPR Certification preferred.
Required Skills :
Human behavior or principles of psychology preferred including therapeutic relationships & processes, age specific growth & development, limit setting, crisis & behavior management.
Physical Requirements: Requires sufficient body mobility to accomplish essential functions. Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel with ease. Requires walking and standing often. Requires frequently speaking on the telephone. Able to write legibly and grammatically to convey patient behavior and information in the patient chart. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Must be able to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. Communicating fluently and effectively both verbally and in writing in English. Ability to perform CPI physical, verbal and non-verbal techniques. Ability to appropriately interact with all program staff, patients, visitors, attending physicians, and other department representatives.
