Occupational Summary:
The Mental Health Project Coordinator will oversee the implementation of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Grant. This position will serve all Newman campuses including outreach sites. The individual in this role will be required to represent the Student Success Center through cross-campus collaborations with faculty, deans, and departmental offices to promote mental health best practices and grant initiatives. This position is funded for 3 years through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Grant. The schedule will be full time (40hrs) over 12 months per year. Paid time off and benefits starting after first 30 days. Approximately 20 days off with pay for observed holidays/breaks with an additional 2 weeks of vacation time accrued per year. Tuition waiver for employee, spouse and eligible dependents after one year of employment. Work Performed: Provide ongoing university training to faculty, staff, and students through Mental Health First Aid training, workshops, email campaigns, online video content, and printed materials. Track all mental health data on campus including counseling usage, NCAA coach training, Mental Health First Aid participation, Kognito completion, Propeller Project engagement, red folder dissemination, and others as implemented. Disseminate and evaluate the institution wide Mental Wellness survey, annually. Serve as the liaison between students and institutional counseling services including referral paperwork, scheduling, and data collection. Collaborate with other members of the Student Success Center to effectively implement mental health initiatives campus wide. Implement institution wide use of Kognito, and JED Campus Fundamentals for mental health evaluation, data tracking, and training. Effectively utilize Newman University's student support software. Co-Chair the Mental Health Advocacy Team. Project a professional, positive, and supportive attitude to students, staff, faculty, and visitors. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills/Training: Bachelor's is required, a master's degree is preferred. Experience working in the higher education field implementing grant related projects. Demonstrated understanding of current trends related to student mental health experiences and campus crisis response. Commitment to student success with professional experience in student support services strongly preferred. Possess strong customer service skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.  Experience working with Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn new software programs; experience with student information systems preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain flexibility with student and university schedules to accommodate office hours and staff schedules.
