GENERAL FUNCTION Under the direction of the Membership Director, and in accordance with Association policies, this position is responsible for member engagement and retention through impeccable member service and practices that promote member engagement, specifically connecting members to programs. The Member Experience will possess extensive knowledge in member and membership processes as well as all aspects of YMCA programming and services. This position will also be involved with family events and programming throughout the year.
KNOW HOW A college degree and a minimum of 2 years of customer service experience in a health and wellness environment preferred. The ability to work well and effectively communicate with a diverse population in a wide variety of situations is required. An outgoing, friendly disposition, knowledge of excellent customer service practices, supervision, and management are required. Must have good written and verbal communication skills and effective conflict resolution skills. Confidentiality and excellent organization skills are strongly emphasized.
JOB SEGMENTS Meet and exceed membership satisfaction and retention goals. Ensure daily member questions and requests are handled in an efficient manner. Embraces relationship development with members and staff exuding a positive, energetic, outgoing personality. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive personal and financial data for each member. Monitoring and ensuring membership policies and procedures are followed. Supervising and supporting front desk staff in absence of District Membership Director Assist in selling memberships and programs by proactively engaging in conversations on the benefits of the YMCA/JCC memberships and programs. Successfully implement the Association's Smart Start Program, and be the main point of contact for all tours for the branch. Make all new member 7 and 30 day calls welcoming to the Y and getting new members registered for a Smart Start Program. Participate in and develop family programming and events throughout the year in conjunction with family member engagement initiatives. Be able to complete all member service desk transactions such as new membership, program registration, bad bank draft receipts and be generally knowledgeable of YMCA software in order to implement great customer service. Will embrace, use and require all department staff to use all tools provided to increase the level of member interaction, including technological tools as needed and available. Practice strong fiscal stewardship in the execution of financial and membership policies and procedures. Actively participate in the Annual Campaign by helping to raise dollars toward goal. Work as Manager on Duty as assigned. Support the successful operations of the YMCA by assisting all departments as needed. Any other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities.
