Responsibilities Job Summary:
This job is responsible for providing professional-level direct assistance and logistical/administrative support to the organized, self-governing and unified Franciscan Medical Staff, its governance committees and medical staff leaders. This includes related medical staff governance functions on a wide range of initiatives/projects/issues that are complex and sensitive in nature and of significant importance to the organization.
Responsibilities have broad scope, are carried out with significant independence, judgment and accountability and require the ability to establish and maintain a high level of trust and confidentiality by holding in confidence all matters discussed in the office, during committee meetings and through all modes of communication.
An incumbent works independently or in conjunction with the Medical Staff President, Medical Staff Officers, Committee Chairs, CMO, Legal Counsel to plan, organize and coordinate meetings and deliverables. Work requires a high degree of professionalism, discretion, diplomacy, political acumen and awareness of medical staff credentialing, governance and regulatory requirements for effective performance.
Essential Job Functions:
Oversees and/or facilitates key preparations for the unified Franciscan Medical Executive Committee (MEC) serving medical staff at multiple VMFH hospitals. (40%) Coordinates all aspects of additional VMFH medical staff governance committees, projects and meetings in accordance with established standards and procedures. (30%) Serves as a resource for hospital, administrative and medical staff members regarding medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, policies and parliamentary procedure; maintains Medical Staff Governance Documents. (20%) Provides administrative support for medical staff collegial interventions, corrective actions and fair hearings. (10%) Performs related work as required. Qualifications Education/Work Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Healthcare or Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field and two years of related work experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities.
Or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position may be substituted for the degree requirement.
