The person in this role must have their RHIT, RHIA and/or any other AHIMA credential. Shift Hours: 7:00AM - 4:00PM/Full Time Oversees and supervises the day-to-day operations of the medical records services for specific departments. Communicates with physicians, internal departments, and various agencies involved in billing and documentation of inpatient and outpatient services. Makes budget recommendations on staffing, equipment and supplies levels. Analyzes trends and work processes for continuing performance improvement; facilitates multi-disciplinary teams and collaborates with other supervisors to improve service and efficiency of Medical Records; takes remedial action as necessary. Supervises, organizes, and monitors the storage, retrieval, and release of medical records and information in compliance with confidentiality/security policies, HIPPA and other regulatoryguidelines. Recommends work redesign and/or other improvements; serves on various related committees including HIPPA Controls, IMPACT collaborative and Leadership. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's degree in management or medical services. Two years experience in a medical records department including one year as a supervisor. Accreditation by the American Health Information Management Association as an Accredited Health Information Technician. Technical knowledge and teaching ability of area being supervised. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock , Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation , Shift work, Travel may be required.
