Benita Jackson, professor of psychology at Smith College, will present "Three Toxic Myths About Rest…and Their Antidotes" Friday, April 12, from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 12, in the Niemann Media Theater.
Prof. Jackson, PhD MPH, has been on the faculty at Smith College for 20 years. She researches, teaches, and coaches leaders on how society gets under people's skin, literally, and shapes their health — and how revisioning society facilitates healing. Prof. Jackson is advisor to the Five College Culture, Health, and Science Program and directs the Soceity, Psychology, and Health Laboratory.
Her applied work includes health coaching, with multiple certifications around how we manage and increase vitality. Fittingly, she is Smith College's inaugural Faculty Wellness Fellow. She founded a public psychology project called Resting to Rise, which supports exhausted, heart-centered leaders becoming revitalized as key to social transformation.
