Job Title: Full-time Medical Biller (pay range per hour $22.-$25.) Job Description: We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced full-time Medical Biller to support our small home care business. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience in medical billing and coding. Working under the Billing Department Supervisor, you will be responsible for accurately and efficiently handling all aspects of medical billing procedures for our organization.
Responsibilities: Review and verify accuracy of billing and coding for services provided; Calling insurance companies to obtain authorization for patients before treatment can take place; Creating invoices based on filing codes assigned to medical procedures; Submit claims to insurance companies electronically and via mail; Sending invoices to patients for remaining balances post insurance payout; Communicating with insurance companies to track payments and confirm patient coverage information; Follow up on and investigate unpaid claims and denials to ensure the provider receives payment; Process payments from insurance companies and patients updating information over the phone and appropriately post payments; Collecting copays from patients and notifying patients with outstanding balances; Resolve billing discrepancies and appeals; Maintain patient billing records and confidentiality; Provide exceptional customer service to patients regarding billing inquiries, accept and process their co-payment; Call insurance companies regarding discrepancy in payments if needed. Requirements: 1-3 years of experience in medical billing and coding; Proficiency in medical billing software, Microsoft Office applications and Quickbooks; Knowledge of insurance guidelines and medical terminology; Strong attention to detail and accuracy: checking each payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discount, identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances; Use monthly aging accounts receivable reports to follow-up on unpaid claims aged over 30 days; Must post payments in an efficient and timely manner; Excellent communication and organizational skills; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Perform additional duties as requested by supervisor and/or the Administrator; Other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Education: High School Diploma is sufficient. Knowledge of business and accounting processes usually obtained from an Associates in Business Administration or Accounting or Health Care Administration is preferred. Certification in Medical Billing is a plus. Schedule and Benefits: This is a full-time W2 position with hours from 8:30am to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday
