In addition to a purpose-based work environment, Catholic Charities offers a generous benefit package including medical plans, generous holiday leave, paid Family Medical Leave*, flexible work options, career development, Diocesan tuition reimbursement*, retirement plans and much more.Medical AssistantPrimary Office: Mother of Mercy Free Medical Clinic, WoodbridgeHours per Week: 40Starting Hourly Salary: $21.59 (Non-exempt)Telework Available: NoPosition Description:Responsible for providing nursing care to the patience under the direction of the health care provider.Position Responsibilities:Respects client and employee rights and privacy ensures security of protected information, practices, in an ethical manner and is compliant to the agency's compliance program and privacy policyPlans and coordinates patient care according to each patient's needs.Patient intakes: records patient medical history and physical condition.Obtains patient vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and respiration.Provides routine care for patients; reviews and maintains medical charts.Assists physicians and registered nurses.Communicates with patients and their families.Prepares and administers injections, assists with EKGs, Point of Care testing, OB examsPrepares specimens for lab courier.Provides patient with health education, medication review, and provider referralsHelps clients access the healthcare system by aiding with scheduling appointments, coordination with pharmacies, and linkage to other providers as neededPerforms selected nursing and administrative duties, and assists physicians as requiredPrepares, cleans, and maintains exam and treatment roomsMaintains Patient Drug Assistance Program medication recordsPrepares and maintains clinical supplies and equipmentAssists with answering the telephone, providing information as requested and screening callsAssists with scheduling tests and treatments for patientsTreats staff, volunteers, and patients with love, dignity and respectFollows agency's policy and procedure regarding infection control measures through proper handwashing, bag technique, use of Personal Protective Equipment, principles of antiseptic technique, exposure control/reporting, care of equipment, safe needle techniquePerforms other related work as requiredOther Duties:Maintain current BLS/CPR certificationAbility to work under pressure with a diverse population, including staff, volunteers, clients, patients and other members of the public on a regular basis.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and volunteers.The position may cause frequent exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and other conditions common to a clinical environmentQualifications & Skills:Ability to fully communicate in ENGLISH/SPANISH both orally and in writing.Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.Ability to take vitals, perform point of care testing and use other medical equipmentAbility to educated patients of their medical diagnosisAbility to maintain medical records and record test resultsAbility to use critical thinking skills to address patients' questions, concerns and issues as they ariseAbility to identify problems and recommend solutions.Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and proceduresAbility to use good reasoning and judgement and react calmly in emergency situationsKnowledge of medical practice and care.Knowledge of medical equipment, diagnostic and treatment procedures.Commitment to the mission, goals, and services of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington.Computer literate, including the ability to learn and use program specific softwareSkill in developing and maintaining clinical quality assuranceEducation and Experience:High School Diploma and job experience in a clinical settingBLS certification/CPR certificationOne year experience in clinical setting, preferredPhysical Demands:Maintain current BLS/CPR certificationAbility to work under pressure with a diverse population, including staff, volunteers, clients, patients and other members of the public on a regular basis.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and volunteers.The position may cause frequent exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and other conditions common to a clinical environmentBENEFITS: Vacation, Sick, Paid FML*, 16 paid holidays in 2024, Medical, Dental, Vision, Pension, Employee Assistance Program, Diocesan School Tuition Reimbursement K-12 .
