Mechanical Parts Advisor Job Description Position Summary Mechanical Parts Advisor acts as the lead agent of change for departmental process improvement and lean manufacturing implementation practices throughout the part's department and mechanical shop.
Position Duties and Responsibilities Performs regular assessments to identify concerns and increase departmental productivity. Analyzes departmental operations and storage layout and revises as needed for maximum effectiveness. Works closely with Mechanical Service Manager to develop best practice procedures. Assists in implementing standard operating procedures to meet both the short-term and long-term needs of the Mechanical shop and Mechanical part's department. Assists the Swift CI team to implement mechanical efficiency strategies for departmental success. Oversees that all part's department procedures are applied to drive results. Responsible for ordering parts from designated service rep with a constant sense of urgency, confirming orders with vendors beginning, mid, and end of each day. Verifies ETAs on parts and coordinates with the production team. Works with the mechanics and mechanical production manager for a timely turnaround of parts needed. Notifies mechanical team of out-of-stock parts and strategizes possible solutions. Assist in inspecting all parts for damage, quality, and accuracy. Matches new parts with the defective parts for use approval ensuring they match. Document's part arrival into mechanical software and uploads matching invoice to vehicle file. Notifies technician of part arrival in a timely manner. Prints and attaches part label stickers to assigned parts in designated cart/shelf locations. Initiates returns for damaged parts and communicates reorder requests with corresponding vendors and notify departments. Tracks incomplete order status (outstanding orders, backorders, and credits) and follow up as necessary. Provides necessary information to the various warranty departments to allow prompt filing of parts warranties and credits. Maintains accurate accounting records for purchases, credits, and/or returned parts. Responsible for accurate daily inventory of the parts/tools department and documents any inventory discrepancies. Ensures that a balanced inventory is consistent with the requirements of the production needs. Maintains an open line of communication with corresponding departments. Comply with company safety rules, guidelines, and standards. Performs other duties as required to successfully meet the needs and goals of the Part's department and Swift Recon. Educational Requirements High school diploma or 6 months to 1-year related experience and/or training. Position Requirements Under the state of Oklahoma's Unity Bill, this position is classified as a "Safety Sensitive Position" due to the job requirement of driving a vehicle. Must maintain an open line of communication with all departments. Strong written and oral communication skills that allow you to communicate effectively with your team. Read and understand instructions, written estimates and work orders. Multitasking and adapts easily to fast-paced environment. Maintain professional appearance. Physical Activity Frequent: Standing ? walking ? reaching ? pushing ? pulling ? lifting ? carrying ? finger and wrist movement ? grasping ? visual acuity ?bending ? crouching ? sitting ? driving ? climbing ? repetitive motions.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions Position is based in a normal shop environment. Daily activity as well as repetitive tasks involving hand and arm motion and lifting objects over 50 pounds. Must be able to push/pull parts, carts, and cars with assistance. Working environment consists of: Exposure to fumes, chemicals, dust, along with high levels of noise. Must have manual dexterity to operate equipment. Subject to climate changes both inside and outside the facility. Must have visual acuity to determine the accuracy and thoroughness of the work assigned.

Acknowledging the company data and equipment is proprietary and must be submitted upon leaving this position.
