Job Description:
We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer, R&D – NPD to join our Orthopaedic Instruments team located in Portage, Michigan. This role is hybrid with the expectation to come into the office on average 4 days a week.

People who imagine with the user in mind, developing technology that helps change patients' lives WHAT YOU WILL DO: As the Mechanical Engineer on our Stryker's Orthopedic Instruments new product development team, y ou will be charged with applying sound engineering practices while designing new products and technologies used in surgery.  Staying close to our customers and collecting valuable insights into product performance and features will be critical to success. You will have an active role in everything from brainstorming new concepts to commercialization and manufacturing scale-up.
Under supervision, design, develop, modify, and verify mechanical components for medical devices. Assist with prototyping and bench testing. Support problem solving, root cause analysis, identify potential solutions, and evaluate them against requirements. Under supervision, conduct research and studies to support product design. Interpret customer needs and understands design inputs. Understand the product's intended use and clinical procedures. Understand fundamental industry standards, design requirements and test strategies which align with regulatory requirements. With supervision, create or refine engineering documentation, such as the Design History file per company design control procedures. Learn R&D procedures like design controls and risk management, per the Quality Management System. WHAT YOU NEED: Required: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related 0+ years of work experience Preferred: Experience with 3D CAD modeling (Creo Preferred) Fundamental knowledge and understanding of mechanical engineering practices and tools, design principles within a regulated environment. Basic knowledge of design and concept generation CAD or CAE modeling tools Ability to read and Interpret complex drawings. About Stryker Our benefits:
