Together, we are EXP.Are you ready to design your future?Be our nextMechanical EngineerYour work environment at EXPIn this role, you will be a part of theMechanicalteam, of theMining Sector, this position will be based in Florida, Denver Colorado or Raleigh North Carolina.You'll be part of our mechanical team specializing in mechanical, piping, material handling and pumping. You'll be exposed to various situations to develop your technical skills in pumping for various industrial process applications, such as Material Handling (conveyors, feeders, bins, chutes, crushing and grinding), Dust Collection, Noise Abatement, Pumps, Piping, Dewatering, Roasters, Coolers, Quench Chambers, etc. You'll also be asked to provide support to the various discipline engineers and the construction team and play an active role in commissioning and troubleshooting pumping systems.The Mechanical Engineer-Mining reports to the Vice-President, Mining under the leadership of the Director of Engineering.What a day at EXP has in store for youAbility to work and communicate positively within a team.Understanding of project mission, including Client requirements.Ability to read, understand, and comment on manufacturer equipment drawings and specifications.Checking of 3D models.Checking of 3D models and drawings developed by others.Responsible for managing budgets, schedule and deliverables related to the layout.Provide mentorship and supervision to the design team.Provide support to our systems and tools including the Bentley Suite of software (OpenPlant Modeler, OpenPlant P&ID, etc.).Provide regular feedback to the Overall Mechanical Engineering Lead on progress with the preparation of deliverables.Ability to engage and coordinate the design with client representatives.Participate and assist in proposal preparations.Become familiar with EXP standardsWhat your experience looks likeBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.Registered PE7+ years relevant experience with engineering/design deliverables in an industrial setting. Experience in consulting engineering is preferredDesign experience, preferably in the consulting industry, (preference will be given to those candidates with experience in Mineral Mining projects).Experience with the design registration of power piping systems with the safety authority.Experience with Section VIII, Div 1 pressure vessel design modifications and pressure vessel alterations with the safety authority.Experience with ASME B31.3 and B31.1 piping codes, National Board, API 650, ASME Section VIII Div 1, NFPA codes, CSA Z662 and CSA Z276 is desired.Design experience with engineering software packages such as PipeFlo, AutoPipe, Caesar, Compress, Tank, AFT Arrow, AFT Impulse and SolidWorks.Experience with developing procurement data sheets, specifications and engineering/construction work packages.Strong personal commitment to Safety and Quality.Experience with full cycle engineering for small to medium size projects including proposal development, engineering/design, coordination, project and client management.Knowledge of mining and bulk material handling (crushing, grinding, screening, conveying, flotation and tailings).Knowledge of piping design and process equipment (PE piping, slurry hydraulics, tanks, pumps, and pipe stress).Organized, self-motivated, pro-active, detail-oriented, and have good communication skills.Sound understanding of design, engineering codes and technical standards.Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.) products.AutoCAD and/or MicroStation experience required.Extensive knowledge in engineering standards, codes and guidelines and engineering systems coordination.Knowledge of mining-related processes a definite asset.Ability to work and communicate positively within a team.Ability to function with minimal supervision.Experience with Greenfield and Brownfield interfaces, including constructability experienceMust be a team player and can work collaboratively with others.Excellent problem-solving skills and critical-thinking.Willing and able to travel for short durations to various global project offices or site is considered an asset.The pay range for this role is $90,000 to $130,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
