17.50 to 19 + pooled tips Masala Lab is one of a kind Indian fusion restaurant from the folks behind Indian fusion cart DesiPDX (as seen on Netflix's Somebody Feed Phil) serving Indian fusion food. We've been serving brunch for 2 years and recently just started dinner service. In the time we've been open, our unique take on familiar brunch favorites and traditional Indian flavors has earned us rave reviews on Eater, Forbes, Willamate Weekly, and lots of positive Google reviews. THE POSITION
We are looking for someone to lead our FOH crew - we're currently a small team so it'd be just you at dinner service and one other person working at brunch service but we'll grow that team as we get busier and are looking for someone who can help with that process. Duties include:
* Setting up the front of house for service
* Taking orders, providing attentive customer service
* Making drinks (mostly batch cocktails/mocktails)
* Plating desserts
* Bussing tables
* Managing FOH supply and bar inventory and placing orders (either directly from vendors or through our chef)
* Helping develop new cocktails and mocktails that fit into our Indian fusion theme
* Developing systems and procedures to ensure we operate smoothly as we get busier
SHIFTS
We're currently open for dinner Thu to Fri and brunch Sat and Sun and as lead you'd be working the following shifts at first to understand the full flow of our service.
Thu: 4PM to 10:30PM (Solo shift)
Fri: 4PM to 10:30PM (Solo shift)
Sat Split shifts: 10AM to 2PM (Another person works 8AM to 3PM to open/close brunch service) , 4PM to 10:30PM
Sun Split shifts: 10AM to 2PM (Another person works 8AM to 3PM), 4PM to 10:30PM
This comes out to around 32 hours a week - but on some Saturdays and Sundays if there's projects to do, you could stay on the clock and end up with more hours.
Note that on Thursdays we currently don't have a dishwasher as it's not as busy so the chef and you will be tag teaming closing up the front and dishpit. Once Thursday's start getting busier we'll get a dedicated dishwasher.
PAY & BENEFITS
Pay is $17.50-19/HR DOE + pooled revenue share. Our staff also start accruing 1 week PTO/sick leave after 3 months and we are actively trying to figure out health insurance options for next year.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
* At least 3-4 years FOH experience
* Oregon Food Handler's card valid for at least another 6 months
* OLCC servers permit valid for at least another 6 months
* Ability to lift 40lbs
* Ability to lift 10lbs overhead
* Clean and organized
