This position is responsible for promoting a beloved brand with a fun voice through social media management, email marketing, and account coordination.

With more than 96k followers, you'll oversee writing, scheduling, approving, and reporting on all of the Wisconsin Union general social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Spotify, Giphy, and Snapchat. The cherry on top (of our Daily Scoop ice cream dish) is that you'll provide invaluable guidance to multiple interns and student leaders as they gain professional experience.
Email Marketing: Your main duties will include running email marketing campaigns in Eloqua from end-to-end. From copywriting to list management to scheduling and everything in between, you will play an integral role in facilitating communications on behalf of a variety of internal clients and the overall organization. Your emails will help fund academic stipends for student leaders; the continuation of treasured spaces, such as the Memorial Union Terrace; free and low-cost events, like a recent talk by Jane Goodall; and more.
Account Management: We're looking for a "people person" with a knack for strategic thinking. You will be responsible for planning, implementing, and managing day-to-day marketing tactics for internal clients, staff, and student leaders. Additionally, you'll collaborate with a team of designers, communicators, project managers, web developers, photographers, and videographers, all with a common goal, connecting individuals to our unique activities, concerts, dining units, and more!
Last, but certainly not least, you will become a part of a welcoming and inclusive team, the Marketing, Membership & Communications Department, that values work-life balance, with the potential option to work partially remote. This position will report directly to the Wisconsin Union marketing director.

Responsibilities: Contributes to strategy development and implements marketing projects in support of institutional or unit marketing goals. 30% Develops, implements, and maintains strategic marketing plans based on research and established strategies 25% Develops, implements, and disseminates marketing materials through various communication mediums utilizing appropriate technologies and techniques 25% Collects, analyzes, prepares, summarizes, and disseminates data and trends relevant to ongoing or future marketing activities 10% Recruit, train, supervise, instruct, and educate student marketing and social media interns 10% Provide direct promotional support for large event and campaign promotions Institutional Statement on Diversity: Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation for UW-Madison. Bachelor's Degree
Candidates with a background in public relations, marketing, strategic communications and journalism, and/or communications are all common in our work, but no specific major is required.
Qualifications: Required:
3+ years in marketing, event promotion, social media, communications, email marketing, advertising, or related field. Minimum 3 years experience in social media management, and email marketing strategy and software. Preferred:
Experience running an organization's social media accounts to convey important messages and build a brand. Accounts include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Giphy, Spotify, Snapchat. Familiarity with social media analytics, reporting, and advertising tools to manage social accounts and campaigns. Proficient with email marketing, ideally with knowledge of Eloqua or equivalent software. Proven organizational and project management skills required including attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects and conflicting deadlines. Account management experience preferred. Ability to develop partnerships with unit managers and understand their operations and financial status. Ability to develop and implement strategic marketing communications plans and evaluate their effectiveness. Work Type: Full Time: 100%

Salary: Minimum $50,000 ANNUAL (12 months)

Additional Information: The Wisconsin Union operates multiple buildings on the UW-Madison campus, including Memorial Union and Union South. The Wisconsin Union is part of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Financial support for the organization is primarily provided by income earned by 22 food service units and a variety of nonfood units such as games, guest rooms, space rentals, and campus vending. Substantial support is also provided by student fees. The total annual organizational budget is approximately $45 million dollars.
