Description: Marketing and Communications Specialist will assist development and implementation of marketing and communication strategies focused on the promotion of the economic growth of Kokomo and Howard County, the Alliance brand, and Alliance events. Interact with staff and volunteer board/council members to plan and develop promotional and program materials. Assist in the preparation of marketing materials. Assist oversight of social media, website and online marketing efforts. Assist the promotion of the community to existing employers and residents as well as prospective employers and residents. Work with CVB manager to attract convention and visitor travel to Kokomo and Howard County through social media activity and creative development of marketing collateral.
The position reports directly to the Manager of Communications.
Salary : Competitive and commensurate with experience
Location : Kokomo, IN
Type: Full time. Minimum two-year experience and/or equivalent educational experience
Qualifications:
§ Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, marketing or related field suggested
§ Familiarization with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
§ Understanding of social media and web-based email marketing software
§ Understanding of website content management, with an emphasis on WordPress
§ At least two years of marketing/communications experience
§ Self-motivated work ethic
§ The ability to work both individually and as a part of a team
§ Ability to strategize, plan, implement/execute, and follow through on projects
§ An interdisciplinary approach working with multiple organizations, companies, directors and managers to create ownership of projects and shared successes
§ Highly developed (and demonstrated) written, proofreading, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
§ Ability to produce innovative ideas, high-quality work under tight deadlines, ability to communicate information to diverse audiences, and write for different media and with a variety of voices
§ Solid judgment with high standards of accuracy, responsiveness, integrity, and discretion
§ Exceptionally detail-oriented with strong project, organization, and time-management skills
Areas of Responsibility: Marketing, Communications and Public Relations Duties to include, but not exclusive to the following:
§ Assist development and contribute implementation of marketing strategies designed to enhance the community's economic prosperity with a focus on employment, population growth and convention and visitor activity
§ Assist in the development and production of all organization print and electronic materials such as annual report, membership directory, visitors guide, letterhead, use of logo, brochures, etc.
§ Research, analyze, and monitor technological, demographic, and financial factors to capitalize on market opportunities and adjust strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions
§ Assist Communications Manager in maintaining a program of community marketing
§ Assist Communications Manager in maintaining a program of public relations for the Alliance
§ Assist content management for website, e-marketing, and all publications
§ Assist development of collateral promotional material
§ Assist Communications Manager to complete priority projects with associated timelines
§ Travel: Some
Additional Responsibilities: § Help serve as the Alliance representative through various community organizations and events
§ Act as a liaison to the community and the Alliance supporters. Effectively communicate the Alliance's message with the broader community, cities, towns, county officials, other local elected officials, and business partners.
§ Other tasks as assigned by the President/CEO.
Expectations:
§ Howard County residence upon job acceptance preferred
§ Full-time onsite position required
§ Availability to attend events outside of normal 8-5 office hours
§ Work in a team environment in carrying out the mission of the Alliance
§ Have an understanding and respect for the confidentiality of certain information
