Shift:                                   Non-traditional work hours.  The full-time, 40 hours per week, Market Manager Position is responsible for the successful operation of the Norman Farm Market and Moore Farm Market. The Farm Market's operate two days per week on Tuesday evenings 4-7pm, April-July, Tuesday mornings 8:30-11:30 August-October and Saturday's 8am-12pm year-round.
Reports to:                         Deputy Commissioner, District 2 Job Description: Under the support and direction of the Deputy Commissioner of District 2, this position is responsible for the successful operation of the Norman and Moore Farm Market. The Market Manager (MM) is responsible for the growth of the market to include recruitment of new and diverse vendors, additional entertainment and programs during market days and additional funding sponsors and partners. The MM completes a variety of operational and administrative tasks for the Norman and Moore Farm Market. The MM performs regular duties including but not limited to management of weekly market operations, data entry, financial reconciliation, onsite volunteer management & consistent communication with vendors. The MM identifies and capitalizes on any and all opportunities to support The Well.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:  Manages the weekly farmers' markets by ensuring all operations are carried out efficiently and safely. MM oversees the set-up and break-down of market and all normal farm market operations during market hours. MM is responsible for supporting the existing community environment Norman and Moore Farm Market has built through cheerful and accountable interactions with customers, vendors, volunteers and The Well. Provides guidance direction and communication to market volunteers and vendors. Coordinates regular site visits with all farm market vendors Works to build and grow Markets into a destination place for residents and visitors by offering additional programming during farm market hours. Maintains accounting of farm market funds including SNAP & Double Up, Senior and Chickasaw bucks, farm market labor costs, musician or other entertainment payments. Assists with advertising and marketing of the Markets through social media and earned media. Schedules the musicians for market. Maintains expedient and consistent communication with musicians to book gigs, seeks out new talent and develops relationships with new musicians. Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong accounting skills Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and communication skills Attentive to details and displays a strong aptitude for organization Time management skills and self-motivating focus required for this position Strong customer service skills- displays enthusiastic, outgoing, and helpful behaviour Ability to finish projects with minimal management Aptitude for prioritizing and completing multiple tasks within time restraints Competent in MS Office and of web-based applications Comfortable working with numbers, bookkeeping and Microsoft Excel Willingness to learn and expand job skills Must have a passion for farmers' markets, local food and sustainability. Flexible time schedule to accommodate variable hours and market activities required Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Applicant must be able to work all shifts.  Employer conducts random drug and alcohol testing and a background check will be done prior to employment. 
Education and/or Experience: Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in agriculture sciences, marketing, community relations or outreach, communications or related field; experience at merchandising, retail sales or event planning.  Previous farm market management experience preferred, grant writing and management preferred.  Applicant must be able to work all shifts.  A valid driver's license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record is required.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel, such as keyboarding and writing. The employee may be required to use standard office equipment and spend long hours sitting, walking, or standing. The employee is required to talk and listen. The employee will occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Noise level is minor to moderate depending on location of work performed.
Work Environment: While much work is conducted in an office environment, often work is active on site at the Markets. Travel to various service organizations and locations outside of the main office will be necessary to meet with vendors, agencies, health departments, and the community.
Safety: The employee shall be knowledgeable and follow Cleveland County's safety policies and procedures.  The employee must immediately report any accidents, unusual occurrences or any other safety-related issues to their supervisor.
