Tidewater Staffing is currently seeking Marine Shop Technicians for work in Portsmouth, VA.
Roles and Responsibilities: Assemble and disassemble fiberglass lifeboats. Inspect, repair, adjust, and/or replace mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components within using hand tools, power/pneumatic tools, and electrical test equipment. Assist higher-level personnel in more complex maintenance, repair, servicing, and troubleshooting of diesel engines, lifting hooks, davit/crane structures and winches. Assist with fiberglass repairs (grinding, mold prepping, new part production, etc.) Assist with painting (buffing, cosmetic defects, sanding, etc.) Forklift operation (training provided.) Crane operation (training provided.) Qualifications and Education requirements: Basic mechanical skills. General 12v electrical knowledge. Clean driving record. Shipyard experience preferred. Auto/Diesel mechanical knowledge preferred. Offshore Certifications preferred (provided if not available.) Automotive/Aircraft/Airplane painting experience preferred.
