Responsibilities
• Write Capital Improvement Projects from start to finish• Oversee automation projects for new and existing equipment• Provide technical support to manufacturing for capability issues and improvements• Identify improvement opportunities and use data driven approach• Provide engineering support for equipment upgrades and replacements• Communicate with various departments for information and project updates• Research and evaluate new technologies for manufacturing process• Drive downtime reduction initiatives and projects• Lead or participate in cross functional teams for process improvement• Optimize performance of automated equipment and work cells
Requirements
• Associate or Bachelor degree in discipline related to automation• 3-5 years Automation Engineering / Maintenance experience preferred• Experience with Continuous Improvement initiatives a plus• Strong computer skills required• Ability to perform electrical troubleshooting and read electrical prints• PLC and controls experience required• Good hand-eye coordination required• Ability to lift and move heavy objects• Good communication and problem-solving skills
Key Skills Needed
• In-depth knowledge of plant machinery operations• Industrial electricity• Mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic operations• Troubleshooting techniques• Blueprint and schematic analysis• Use of tools and diagnostic equipment• Knowledge of relays, contactors, starters, solid state relays, soft starts, and variable frequency drives• Operation and troubleshooting of PLC programming• Reading and interpreting schematic diagrams and equipment manuals• Electrical distribution and machine controls• Electronic, electromechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and optic systems• Mechanical design and automated equipment• Selection and application of sensors and control devices• CAD and SolidWorks experience• MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint• Data collection and analysis• Problem-solving• Good hand-eye coordination
