Manufacturing Engineering Manager Location Plymouth, MN : Position Objective: Leads manufacturing engineering, automation, and tooling functions to ensure implementation of manufacturing and technology solutions that position Wagner as a best-in-class manufacturer. Continuously assesses operations to identify and implement solutions that improve labor efficiency, productivity, and employee safety. Is a champion for driving a continuous improvement culture throughout the organization.
Responsibilities: Provides sustaining support to keep production lines running. Support activities include process design as well as tooling and fixture changes. Develops and implements manufacturing technologies and processes to support new product development schedules. Ensures that all department NPD deliverables as defined in the Wagner phase gate process are rigorously adhered to. Actively supports Wagner continuous improvement efforts. Deeply engaged in kaizen & 6S, problem solving methodologies, and daily production tier meetings. Researches and implements innovative manufacturing and automation technologies to enable constant improvements to labor efficiency, productivity, and built-in quality. Maintains ERP data to ensure accurate production routings. Executes ERP workflows to ensure timely processing of engineering changes. Defines and maintains standard operating procedures and manufacturing documentation. Participates in development of automation roadmaps and ensures team executes per published timelines. Performs other duties and assumes accountabilities as apparent or as delegated. Relationship to Others: Direct management of manufacturing engineers, automation engineers, and tool makers. Strong collaboration with other Operations departments, Engineering, Quality, Human Resources, Accounting, Sales & Marketing, and Executive Management
Qualifications: Education and Experience Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering. 7 years' experience in an assembly-based manufacturing environment. Experience with both high-volume and low-volume production. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Solid understanding of best-in-class assembly methodologies and automation applications. Demonstrated experience in a lean manufacturing organization. Clear leadership skills with a track record of motivating and developing talent. Experience monitoring/assessing/improving department performance via KPIs Basic ERP knowledge (SAP preferred). Working knowledge of budgets and company financials. General understanding of regulatory requirements applicable to production. operations (OSHA, EPA, EEOC, local municipality requirements, etc.) Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all other departments.
