Job Description Under direction of the VP Reclamation & Projects, the incumbent will provide complete reclamation, closure, and environmental services for closure properties within the company portfolio and will provide reclamation and closure planning support to operating sites. Incumbent will work with internal leaders and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with company, local, state, and federal requirements and shall conduct all activities in a safe manner and in alignment with Kinross' values.
Job Responsibilities 1. Lead, manage, and oversee all aspects of closed sites across multiple locations across the Kinross portfolio.
2. Develop, implement, and manage care & maintenance programs, compliance & monitoring programs, reclamation & closure plans, permitting and projects for closed sites.
3. Provide reclamation and closure planning support to operating sites.
4. Develop and implement business practices and policies that align with the organization's overall strategy.
5. Ensure all portfolio operations, construction, and oversight activities are managed in conformance and compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and standards.
6. Conduct routine site regulatory planning, reporting and oversight of activities around reclamation and closure engineering, site investigation and baseline studies, remedial design, design review, planning, implementation, and execution.
7. Operate and maintain water treatment facilities and water monitoring infrastructure.
8. Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships and interactions with agencies, elected officials, and the communities.
9. Work closely with legal counsel and external affairs specialists to effectively manage regulatory and stakeholder risk.
10. Develop a reclamation and closure risk strategy for Kinross closure sites, including short and long-term risk mitigation plans, with the overall goal of reducing and minimizing liability.
11. Stay informed about new and pending regulatory changes and adjust management systems as needed.
12. Establish budgets and monitor and report on implementation and forecasts.
13. Provide reports as required for decision making, period reporting and budgeting.
14. Engage and manage expert consultants and contractors as required to meet objectives.
15. Develop succession plans and provide personnel with coaching to ensure development plans align with staffing needs. Manager, Reclamation & Environment - Page 2
16. Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to, safety, environmental, confidentiality, and code of conduct.
17. Prepare, update, and maintain records and reports as required for decision making, period reporting, and to ensure compliance with regulations, plans, and commitments.
18. Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience 1. Bachelor's degree in civil, mining or environmental engineering, hydrogeology or related science field.
2. Formal professional or technical registration in an appropriate area of expertise preferred.
3. Knowledge and experience with local, state and federal regulatory framework (safety and environmental) across the company's locations.
4. Seven to ten (7-10) years of relevant work experience.
5. Understanding of regulatory compliance reporting.
6. Experience with reclamation/closure plan development and implementation.
7. Experience with operation and management of water treatment systems, as well as groundwater and surface water monitoring.
8. Leading varied projects with shifting deadlines and requirements, including consultant, contractor, and project management.
9. Budget development and management.
10. Provide team leadership and collaboration, including remote leadership/management.
11. Effectively mobilize and lead teams during high-pressure situations and crisis management actions.
12. Demonstrate collaboration and communication with varied stakeholder groups (e.g., regulatory agencies, community leaders, indigenous groups, corporate executives) to build relationships and strategies.
13. Apply strategic thinking and analysis to solve complex problems and generate innovative solutions.
14. Target setting and measurement/monitoring of progress against goals.
15. Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, analytical, presentation and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
16. Proficiency in personal computer (PC) usage, including the Microsoft Office Suite software and Teams.
17. General understanding of mining, milling and maintenance operations.
18. Ability to work both independently and as a member of the management team.
19. Must be a minimum of 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
20. Must hold and maintain a valid Passport and state driver's license.
21. Position is based in Republic, Washington, but includes travel to other site locations and for stakeholder interactions.
22. Field work required in remote areas and through all seasons.
