Full job description Position Description The Manager of Training in the Department of Logistics will manage the training program and train instructors to effectively prepare election workers to manage voting locations and provide voters with a positive participation in democracy by accurately and confidently following State and Federal election laws as well as established local procedures while conducting an election.

Duties and Responsibilities: Demonstrates/explains election procedures, processes, and voting equipment. Develops and evaluates the election training program Handles the hiring, training, and managing training instructors: payroll, scheduling, delegating tasks. Creates/edits content of manuals and presentation of each election. Monitors/provides updates on website for training changes. Manages overlapping sign-up systems for registering to training. Functioning as Lead Instructor, as needed, class sizes of 50-200. Pre-plans for future training needs. Manages class, ensuring handouts and supplies are available for each session. Leads and monitors Trainers with answering phone calls from judges during voting periods. Requirements Education and Experience: Associate Degree or 30-60 hours in Business, Human Resources, Project Management, Political Science or related field from an accredited college or university. One (1) year Supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Three (3) years of professional instruction experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for his job. Experience writing and developing learning material for a variety of audiences. Must be able to communicate complicated procedures/information in clear and simple language. Must be very organized, have strong problem-solving skills, and possess excellent written/verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Must possess strong presentation skills. Proficient in Adult Learning. Must be flexible in a fast-paced work environment. Excellent customer service skills. Possess basic skills with the use of office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.

Preferences Bachelor's Degree (in Business, Human Resources, Project Management, Political Science or related field) Three (3) years of management experience preferred, but not mandatory. Election experience preferred but not mandatory. Experience with LMS systems, Zoom, presentation software preferred. General Information Position Type and Typical Hours of Work: Regular Full-time
Monday - Friday | 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Overtime mandatory during Election cycles.
Ability to work overtime without prior notice and work flexible hours as required. Salary: Depends on Qualifications
Based on 26 pay periods
Location: Administration Building, 1001 Preston St., Houston, Texas 77002 This position does not include paid parking; a subsidized Harris County Metro card is available after employees receive their first paycheck.
Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
