Job Overview Primary responsibility is the management and supervision of the evaluation, procurement, storage, and distribution of all supplies and equipment. The Manager will oversee the daily operations of the Purchasing Office, Storeroom, and coordinates Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) contracts (with Vizient Purchasing Contracts) and the Materials Management computer system. Performs the following duties personally or through subordinate managers/supervisors. Coordinates personnel in the procurement area.
Maintain in depth knowledge of GPO purchasing program and solid knowledge of other GPO product category programs.
Develop/maintain good working relationships with customer departments and management team.
Review purchasing practices to assure staff are procuring/utilizing appropriate contracts and tiers.
Ensure optimal participation in GPO agreements to maximize price savings, rebates, group redistribution and commitments.
Work with the hospital management staff to procure the appropriate supplies and equipment within agreed upon time frames.
Coordinate the standardization of supplies and equipment within the organization.
Coordinate the reconciliation process for invoices with the Accounts Payable department when price and quantities do not agree with the purchase order.
Assist in the preparation of the annual departmental operating and capital budgets; operates each function within the approved budget.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises two employees in the Materials Management Department.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving.
What you will need o Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, accounting, or related field.
o One to three years' experience in a materials management or supply procurement capacity required.
o Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
o Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
o At least one-year previous supervisory experience preferred.
o Experience negotiating contracts and pricing with vendors required.
