Join us to discover how you can meet your goals and ours!OverviewManages all aspects of employee and agent benefit programs including retirement programs and wellness programs. Stays informed of new employee related laws, regulations, and trends. Reports to the Director of Total Rewards who provides oversight and general direction. Works independently under general supervision and guidance. This role will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulations and providing exceptional service to employees and agents.Core ResponsibilitiesPlans, organizes, and evaluates employee health and welfare programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance plans.Oversees Affordable Care Act (ACA) compliance and reporting. Responsible for annual reporting to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) as well as annual notices.Provides guidance and oversight of day-to-day operations of the leave programs (FMLA, CTFMLA, CTPFML, CFLA, DCFMLA, MAPFML, ADA) with direct involvement in resolving complex issues.Effectively manages relationships with third parties to ensure that agreed upon service levels are met and any issues are promptly addressed. Reviews benefit contract for accuracy and monitors contracts to ensure compliance with negotiated terms and conditions.Ensures appropriate and timely communications.Manage open enrollment processes, including communication materials, enrollment systems, and employee education sessions.Coordinate with payroll and HRIS team to ensure accurate processing of benefit deductions, contributions, and reporting.Establishes systems and methods for training and orienting employees, completes performance appraisals, provides coaching, and takes appropriate corrective action as needed.Skills QualificationsRequired:Knowledge of health and welfare programs (insured, self-insured, and self-administerd).Knowledge of all applicable employment and benefit laws and regulations, especially those relating to health benefits, insurance, and pension.Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to employees at all levels.Detailed oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information including medical issues with discretion.Strong people skills with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.Ability to prioritize work on multiple projects at a time.Problem solving and analytical skills; ability to develop and present findings.Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPointHRIS systemsPreferred:Proficiency with benefits administration systems; experience with ADP WorkforceNow, SAP-BenefitFocus preferred.EducationRequired:BA in HR, Business Administration, or a related field.Minimum of 3 years of professional work experience in health benefits management.Strong understanding of benefit plan design, including eligibility requirements, contribution structures, and cost sharing mechanisms.Preferred:Certified Benefits Professional (CBS) designationProfessional in Human Resources or Senior Professional in Human Resources (PHR/SPHR)Supervisory experienceCompensationThe wage range for this role takes into account a broad array of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The range below applies as long as the work is performed in Connecticut; the Knights of Columbus reserves the right to adjust the wage range if the position is performed in another location. At the Knights of Columbus, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
