The Manager, Laboratories (North America) is responsible for the overall operation and administration of the laboratory, including leading the Laboratory Team to perform the test procedures, record and report test results promptly, accurately, and proficiently, and for assuring compliance with the applicable regulations. The Manager, Laboratories (North America) is responsible for delivering high-quality testing performance in a timely and cost-effective manner to meet the needs of both internal and external customers and providers. This position will report to the Director, Certification & Test Engineering, for Cabin Engineering.
The Manager, Laboratories (North America) coordinates and manages all testing activities related to development, qualification and certification of Safran Cabin products. This includes leading the team towards continuous growth, alignment, and mentorship, while also setting metrics to measure performance and maintaining visibility on laboratory availability. The Manager, Laboratories (North America) works to enhance customer service and satisfaction, with a focus on improving overall outcomes. Additionally, this position aims to recognize the laboratory as a business unit in order to maximize revenue not only for the team itself but also for Safran Cabin as a whole.
• Plan and direct the work of the highly skilled Laboratory Team to achieve product development, qualification, and certification objectives.
• Actively work with other engineering disciplines to ensure that Laboratory Team deliverables are completed on schedule and on budget.
• Forecast, manage, and maintain actual vs. budgeted engineering costs, starting at the proposal phase and through the project. Monitors scheduling and team resources to meet/exceed business objectives and goals.
• Oversee development of analytical tools, databases and work flow procedures, as needed, for efficient product completion.
• Ensure visibility on the Laboratory availability (Hours of Operation + Additional exceptional plans)
• Ability to coach and mentor team aimed at enhancing internal customer service and customer satisfaction within the Laboratory team, leading to improve overall results.
• Provide orientation and training to testing personnel and evaluate their performance including ensuring accountability for achieving satisfactory results, customer service and satisfaction. Also recognizing the laboratory as a business unit.
• Work closely and constructively with other departments within the organization to gain consensus on the best strategy for each engineering issue.

• Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, developing, and evaluating staff; makes recommendations, initiates promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.
• Be onsite to provide direct supervision when high complexity testing is performed.
• Lab instrumentation, purchase and maintenance oversight.
• Maintain all lab policies and procedures for the testing.
• Assure all machines are in compliance, maintained and serviced appropriately.
• Coordinates with Director of Facilities to ensure proper inventory for laboratory in maintained
• Assists in orientation of new hires and new client contracts specific to laboratory protocols, test methodologies and quality control.
• Develop, write, review and implement procedures and policies, as approved by Director or Manager.
• Prepare the Laboratory for audits or inspections, prepare reports as needed, and ensure documentation for regulatory compliance.
• Ability to coach and mentor team members through the process of understanding the needs and safety of laboratory processes.
• Listen and report the employee sentiment and bridge opportunities for employee relations ship management.
• Act as a liaison between leadership executive team the laboratory staff.

Job Requirements Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline or equivalent
Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in Aircraft Interiors Products and Systems including knowledge of Aerospace Qualification & Certification processes, or at least 5 years of proven leadership experience demonstrating effective team building and talent development within a design and build organization.
Computer Skills: Working knowledge of MS Outlook, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Database software, Internet software.
Other Skills:
• Proven management skills including leadership of high-performing team, employee development, and effective change management
• Aviation/Aerospace background and aircraft interior industry experience required
• Experience working with the FAA, EASA and other Regulatory Agencies
• Proven ability to effectively interface with global aircraft interior customers (i.e. Commercial Aircraft OEMs)
• Ability to build effective working relationships, persuade and influence, and problem-solve complex issues
• Experience coaching and managing a team including conducting annual performance reviews
• Excellent organization and communication skills to provide direction, performance management and oversight to direct report
• Business acumen to assist in establishing budgets, providing program health metrics to management, make recommendations for resourcing programs
• Strong communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to motivate team efforts to accomplish goals
