Shop Manager needed in Columbia to open the shop daily and supervise operations at The Shops at Sharp End to make sure that vendors work together effectively to make sales and contribute to the upkeep of the store. Duties include helping vendors with inventory, scheduling shifts, and training and coaching vendors on best practices in retail sales. Training will be conducted in group settings and one-on-one. The Manager will work with The Shop partners to help implement strategies to increase revenue, integrate with other agency and partner services, and to maintain the sustainability of the Shop. Annual salary is $55,000.
The Shops at Sharp End store is part of an innovative partnership between CMCA's Women's Business Center (WBC), Regional Economic Development Inc (REDI), and The District. The goal is to create a profitable retail store for entrepreneurs enrolled in The Shops at Sharp End retail incubator program. The participants in this program will be vendors supplying products for the Shop to sell as well as serving as Shop staff, to hone their retail sales skills in a low-risk environment. The Manager will coordinate the management and training functions for the participants and assist these retail-focused entrepreneurs of all ages, races, and income levels in honing retail sales strategies.
Job Requirements: Five years retail management experience and experience training staff required. Prefer training in business, marketing, or related field. Experience working with or owning small businesses required. Advanced level and knowledge of standard POS systems required.
